Which POS system for our store?

I'm looking for a POS system for our store:

- a general store in a rural Ontario area
- need two terminals that can be used independently
- must be able to accept cash, credit cards and interac
- registered item data should be accessible by both terminals
- the store has lotto machine, so that should be supported as well
- no alcohols

Given this, what would you recommend/use? I have a software background so if there's a way to access sales data that I can use for generating my own reports, that would be even better.

Thank you.

Do you need it to be accessed online or anywhere/anytime such as running reports and seeing stats?
Do you need it to work with barcode?
How you used a POS before?
Does merchant system (credit card/debit card machine) need to be linked or can be seperate?
1 time payment, monthly sub or free?

Online access : Yes
Barcode : Yes
POS experience : No, but I can learn.
Merchant System : Not sure. I suppose having a linked system is simpler?
Payment : Ideally, once time with small monthly maintenance payments.

Check out ACCUPOS
i've been using them for a few years now.
If u read the reviews...its a love or hate relationship.....they either get raving 5 stars or 1 star

works with barcodes
could support merchant system or use your own from your own bank
payment is monthly, they offer direct transfers of your sales into QBO or SAGE which is updated regular and they have phone support

i would shoot them an email and ask for a customized quote for your own needs

Look at inflow inventory on premise NOT the cloud version.
I have used it for a couple businesses so far soo good. They have a free version for you you use until you hit a certain amount of products and transactions.

Try it out and if it dont work out give me a shout cause I got a few more to recommend.

We user moneris for merchant system and we do not link it because it is more convenient that way to separate the 2.

sorry to bring up an old thread but I started a coffee shop at the end of December and have been using square terminal. As we are growing - squares fees are high for credit card 2.65%, what would people recommend. We don't take cash and want a "smart" point of sale the square terminal works for us in terms of ease of use but don't want to pay the higher fees as I heard there are other options out there with lower credit card processing fees.

Thanks in advance

I use Moneris. Service top notch. Fees are similar to TD. Machine is bullet proof. No, nada, zero problems. Had 1 issue before, and tech came within 4 hours.

dont sign up for moneris or any of those systems. you will regret the contract.

go for square terminal, its pay as u use. one time fee for the terminal (buy it on kijiji or somewhere brand new for much less than official website) no funny business or 'what the catch' type stuff.
its cheap, and it looks sleek modern and cool. and has fast withdrawls , great system, constant updates to stay modern

Maybe if you're not doing a lot of sales, but last time I looked into it Moneris and the others they give way better rates than Square. I'll take an older looking terminal instead of an iPad for 1% lower transaction fees. This may have changed and obviously depends on your industry/volume.

2.65% for credit and 10c debit. That’s going to be significantly higher than what can be negotiated elsewhere. No monthly fees is great but once you hit credit volume thresholds above approx $3,500 / month, Square is no longer cost effective.

For POS, checkout Odoo, its an ERP suite, which will integrate your POS, Inventory, Purchase, Sales and a lot more along with Accounting if you want.

For Payment Merchant, Odoo is working on partnership with Adyen to provide very competitive rates, but in the meanwhile it provides Moneros, Regular Adyen, and quite few other ones.

Let me know if you need more info on it.
I spend time on RFD,
more than I'd like to admit.
But I console myself stating,
I'd need another job if I wouldn't

Has anyone gotten a custom rate from Square for over 250k in transactions? It would be interesting to see if they are comparable to TDMS/moneris at that volume.

Moneris / TD will always. Be lower than Square, provided that you are able to properly negotiate the rates. If you have the types of volumes you’ve mentioned, I can be of assistance in getting the lowest fees with those companies.

Check out Helcim. They have reasonable rates and no issues - a friend of mine has been using them for a few years now.

Is that monthly transaction? At that amount you can neogotiate with any Merchant provider. Should be able to give you a good rate. If you are talking annual so 20k per month try looking into helcim not too bad pretty striaght forward
