Is it possible to keep WhatsApp in sync as I switch devices?

If I have an Android device and an iOS device, is it possible to keep messages in sync between the two platforms?

No. You can't use the same Whatsapp account on both devices, because Whatsapp insists on being connected to a specific phone number, not an account. You could transfer a SIM from one phone to the other, re-do the Whatsapp registration on the 2nd phone, and then transfer it back to the first phone. But Whatsapp would de-register on the first phone when you activated it with that SIM on the 2nd phone, and vice-versa when you transferred it back.

You could create a group containing two different numbers, and if people sent messages to that group, you would get them on both phones, But your answers would be only on the phone that sent them.

As above poster has already mentioned auto sync between two phones is not possible.
Click bait for both.

Neither is a proper transfer. You can't transfer between Android and IOS as Whatsapp stupidly only allows Google drive and iCloud on their respective platforms as backup points and neither the two shall cross.

Emailing the chats aren't remotely the same as a transfer.

Frankly I'm surprised iOS' transfer tool doesn't back up thechats by now.

@op there is one work around.
Keep the number or account on the iOS device.
On Android request web.whatsapp as a desktop site and use that. It's what I do on my android tab.

Is it possible that FB and Apple will never see the same origin of control?

Thanks for the response. I guess I'll have to make my S8 my main device and I'll just use my iPhone as my secondary device. Everyone I know is using WhatsApp as their main app even though they all have Facebook. It would be a lot easier for me if everyone just use FB Messenger.

If I do use two Android devices, how can I switch between them and keep my chats in sync?

You can access Whatsapp Web through the browser on the 2nd device. However, you have to sync the two devices while they are on the same WiFi network, and once the browser tab is dumped from memory, you'll have to resync them. That's about as close as you can get I think.

I don't mean using WhatsApp simultaneously. Let's say I am using WhatsApp on my S8 from 8 AM to Noon. Then switch simcards to continue using WhatsApp on the Essential phone from Noon to 4 PM. How do I make sure both phones are in sync?
