power stop z23 vs R1 Concepts e-line

Hello guys, I read some good reviews for both companies, and I'm stuck on which one to buy. What do you guys suggest?

None. Slotted, drilled rotors can develop cracks at the holes when subjected to extreme heat making a catastrophic failure possible. It will not help you stop faster and are more prone to uneven pad deposits leading to 'warping'. Be smart and get quality solid blanks not these gimmicks that will look 'cool' as soon as you put them on but will look awful within 6-12 months when all the holes and slots fill up with rust.

They both sound like junk.

You should give us more information so we can actually help you. What car? What use? Why do you want upgraded brakes?

What car? 2012 honda accord
What use? daily driver, from A to B
Why do you want upgraded brakes? Brakes need to replace soon

I called around gta indie garages, their prices are ranging from 500 to 700 for generic brake kit and most garages suggest to get the step up versions which cost another 100+ per axel.

So do you really need upgraded brakes? Or just some replacements that are as good as the original equipment?

Because I can relate. I too have an Accord and have never been impressed with the braking performance. Changing to a more aggressive brake pad will give the most noticeable improvement in braking. But there is ALWAYS a trade-off between performance, noise, and dust. If you upgrade the brakes, can you deal with constant squeaking and wheels covered in brake dust?

Slotted rotors are meant to cut away a fresh layer of brake pad when they get glazed over from high-temperature operation. Cross-drilled rotors are supposed to allows gas to escape from between the pad and rotor, again, under high-temperature conditions. Unless you are driving your car on the racetrack, or driving mountain passes where you are really hard on the brakes, you will never utilize these benefits.

Crossed-drilled rotors are known to crack in between the holes, so I would only ever suggest slotted rotors for an high performance upgrade. For a daily driver in flat Ontario, plain rotors are fine.

I was going to suggest name-brand parts from Rockauto, so you're on the right track. Brands like AC Delco, Raybestos, and Centric.

I just did a 4-wheel brake job on my Accord and went with Centric posi-quiet pads and premium rotors from Rockauto. They were $330 shipped with the discount. OEM parts would have been about $800. Those prices are without installation. Having driven on the new parts for a few months now, I'd say they're just as good as the original Honda parts.

I'm using the R1 Geomet rotors, both on and off the track. They are holding up great. No complaints here.

Make sure you verify that the manufacturer's part number is for your vehicle.

Thanks, I haven't thought of that. The seller post just stats for Honda accord.
I'll try to message him and ask for the part number.

I just priced the centric set for the 2016 Odyssey. Comes to $510 shipped to the door. Need to call the dealer to see what their prices are for stock before I pull the trigger.

You can use torontohondaparts.com as a good estimate of dealer prices.

For my Accord, OEM brakes would have been $800. Part of the cost is new abutment clips. They're not included with the pads sets, and are like $10 each. And there's 8 in total. Centric parts were $330.

Be a real baller and go with carbon fiber brakes man c’mon! It will only cost around 10k-12k and you’ll never have to worry about brakes ever again!!!!!!!

Jokes aside, I would just go with regular vented ones.
