Pre-paid label Amazon return stuck at Purolator (not a no-box drop-off)

I requested a return to Amazon, they provided a pre-paid shipping label. The only choice was Purolator. I affixed the label to the box, requested a pickup. Purolator picked the box up and now it shows "Fri. Feb. 25, 2022 - 2:42 a.m. TORONTO SORT CTR/CTR TRI, ON Arrived at sort facility". It is going to Mississauga and has been sitting in Toronto since Friday. Today is Wednesday. Amazon still shows "Return requested", so they haven't gotten it yet.

This does not look normal for Purolator that usually delivers promptly. Does anyone know what's up or maybe had similar experience? Maybe Purolator consolidates Amazon packages until the truck is full and then delivers? Strange.

Have you reach out to Amazon's customer service for help?

Amazon often refund me after I drop off the return package to Canada Post / UPS.
They refund right away. The package may not even reached the warehouse yet.

They used to refund me on package drop off too. But it doesn't matter. They clearly state that if they don't receive the package they will charge again. In my case now, I am not expecting a refund because they already delivered a replacement for free. Purolator need to deliver the return to them. Otherwise, they will charge me for the replacement.

Weird.

Amazon's system should see it's already with the courier and automatically initiate the refund.
That's how it is when I return stuff using UPS. Soon as the item is scanned, I get an email from Amazon very quickly that they have issued the refund.

I would contact them through chat and let them know what's going on. I mean it should no longer be your problem. You gave the item to Purolator and it's clearly with Purolator according to the tracking number. Amazon should refund you and deal with Purolator to find the item.

It was picked up by Purolator themselves and scanned. It's in the system.

I am not expecting a refund. I got a replacement for free. I just need to return the original item. Technically I am good but if Amazon doesn't receive the return they may charge me later when I've already forgotten about this.

Ohh ok. Well still. It should not be your problem anymore. You clearly followed the steps you were supposed to and are relying on the courier Amazon themselves provided you to return the item.
The system shows it's with Purolator, so I can't imagine they are going to come back and try to take the money from you. What would be the justification?

normally if the package don't get returned after some period of time goes by u will start getting automated emails that will say something like we didn't your return back we will recharge u if we don't get it soon.

then u normally will have to contact c/s if they check the tracking and see u shipped it out and it didn't get them they will normally just make some adjustment to the system so u don't get no more emails and they id assume they would take it up with the shipper.

one problem would be if u the return label is for fedex or puro and u drop it off at some place like staples were they have no scanner to show u dropped it off if the driver never scans it at pick up you are basically screwed. since u have no proof u dropped it off. fedex and puro also will deny any claims if there is no drop off scan.

I wouldn’t worry about it unless Amazon charges you. If they do, then contact them and say you already dropped it off. They will refund you the recharge in that case.

Happened to me in Christmas with Canada Post. Tracking showed no information from both CP and Amazon website. I called Amazon 2 weeks later and turned out they received the return 2 days after I dropped it off.

You are the visionary :)
My package took a break at Purolator. After sitting there since Feb. 25th today it showed Thu. Mar. 3, 2022 - 10:47 a.m. TORONTO (DWNTWN/CTR VILLE),ON Arrived at sort facility, and then later Shipment delivered to RECEIVING at: SHIPPING DOCK.
Looks good now. Amazon doesn't show that they received it but it's been only half an hour.
Thanks to all who responded.

Is Purolator backed up from the sudden surge of volume? I have a few returns and all of them have not progresses past "picked up by Purolator". One refund was processed the next day. The other, no refund yet.

Inventory system often aren't updated at real time or even close. They just do batch updates so when the update is processed, it will update an entire batch of order #s instead of just a few.
