Is this targeted, or do you think it'll apply to all PC Mastercard holders? Also, does anyone know what they define as an "essential"?

There were more details in the email, which I believe is a targeted offer. It is valid for all purchases at PC grocery stores and SDM. It is also eligible for restaurants and streaming services.

I'm wondering if buying GC qualifies as purchases?

I got the e-mail as well. I doubt it's targeted, seems like a widespread promo to keep up with the other CC brands that are offering bonuses at the moment.

Classically they always have. CC companies don't see what merchandise you've bought, just that a charge was applied from the merchant.

If you want to mask it, just buy your GCs, and add some other item on top (i.e. a chocolate bar). That way instead of a nice round number like $200, it'll appear as $201.13, and draw much less attention.
