Fun fact - "Kobe beef" is trademarked in Japan. and almost sure this doesn't meet all the requirements to have this naming. However, this trademarking doesn't hold legal recognition in the US, so they can use it somewhat freely.

Yes, totally agree! This is obviously not Kobe beef. Looks more like it was mid-labelled by Price Smart Foods. The original label only indicates American Wagyu Beef. I’ve updated the post to reflect this.

Giggity giggity. Who doesn't like to press the meat and watch it rebound?

It looks like whoever did the packaging missed pressing the $/lb, so you ended up with the one with a $5.xx/kg instead of the correct 55.xx/kg?

How's the taste btw, worth the price?

Very nice marbling on yours! Even at 10$ a piece...very cheap for some Wagyu!

These are previously frozen so I've been defrosting them. Will try for dinner today. Price I think had the wrong label. I believe the deal ends on the 30th and Pricesmart Burnaby is constantly restocking these at the butcher section. If you want to pay for a $10 previously frozen "wagyu" steak i think you'll find some.

Thanks OP. Picked up a piece that was $17. I like thicker pieces and this piece was just thick enough.

And thanks for the picture! I didn't realize it was in the display so your pictures made me clue in right away!

Marbling was favorable so I'll cook it tomorrow. If good, I'll go back for a few more.

No, from that picture, they appear to have charged for beef trim, so an entirely wrong product. Lucky ducky.

Finally ate the one I bought.

It was good but not great. Oddly, I prefer my prime over wagyu for the balance. More often than not, I find wagyu too rich for me.
