Prince Edward County Food?

Going out to Price Edward County in a few days and want to see what we should be eating. its too late to make reservations at the drake for brunch but they said we could line up at opening. The reviews arent great however.

Any recommendations for a breakfast/brunch and early dinner? looking for something with a nice view/patio

Lakeside Motel has a nice waterfront patio. You don't need to be a guest.

It's seasonal so I think it reflects in the type of workers and general food quality since there're prob closed for winter.

We like The Waring House …
Be it Breakfast / Brunch or Dinner @ Amelias Garden
Lunch, Pints, or Entertainment @ The Barley Room

https://waringhouse.com/

Remember tho, there’s a lot more in the way of Food & Drink in PECounty than just dining …

There are :
Cooking Classes
Wineries & Wine Tastings
Breweries & Cider Houses

And the BOUNTY OF THE COUNTY found along every roadside … from local producers to the Farmers Gate

It’s known as The PEC Taste Trail … they usually have a website (although I cannot seem to find the 2021 edition)

But here’s a sampling from the past …

https://www.visitpec.ca/wp-content/uplo ... racted.pdf
https://savvycompany.ca/tag/taste-trail ... rd-county/

Farm veggies, artisan cheeses, ice cream, fruits & berries, fresh meats, eggs, maple syrup, homemade bread, and baked goods etc

You’ll find it all in PE County … part of the reason chefs are flocking there (besides the lovely scenery) is the true meaning of local eats farm to table

We went to https://flameandsmith.com/ a couple of weeks ago. We liked it and would go back for sure. We did a set menu, but everything we had was nice. Cockatails and wine were good as well. (Note currently only open 4pm-8pm)

County Cider Company. Food is excellent and the cider is among the best I've ever had. I try to go there at least once every summer

I was at the North Docks Kitchen and Drinks in Wellington yesterday. The outdoor patio overlooks the water. The pickerel fish and chips were excellent. We just walked in no reservations. I'd imagine on the weekend it's probably a different story.

I believe that restaurant has closed due to the owners and Council fighting about parking

Found the story. So sad. https://inquinte.ca/story/lake-on-the-m ... ting-doors
Never been big fans of this restaurant
But the location is lovely
We never go to The County without a stop uptop to take in the view @ Lake On The Mountain and the overlook to the Glenora Ferry

Parking here in the Summer has been an issue for years
This is not new
Although it’s become far greater since PEC became popular with the GTA Crowd
Esp so during Covid
When folks had no where’s else to go than places in province
We didn’t even attempt a visit to The County last summer cuz of the crazy crowds
(Some say always busy Sandbanks Provincial Park sometimes was 10x busier than normal … with cars clogging the roads for miles)

As PEC is part of Eastern Ontario … the local news covered this story
And from what is saw in the filmed piece
And what I know personally of the area
IMO the county did / does have an issue with the extra tourists clogging the roads and parking alongside in areas that are “hot for tourists” … but their solution of ticketing cars $ 400 didn’t help this restaurant and it’s patrons
As there just isn’t any place for them to add more parking spaces (cuz of the Provincial Park )

I too think it sad
That a better solution could not be found

But the comments section in that linked article is very telling on who had the bone to pick with these long time restauranteurs / neighbours
