[Princess Auto] 1/2” Torque wrench 24.99

decent price for a torque wrench for that time of the year.

Curious to know how this one compares to the one usually on sale.

From another thread of the $19.99 wrench usually on sale, the only difference is this one comes in a blue case and has 24 gear teeth vs 48.

How do you measure success? Not having a wheel fall off your car while cornering?

Is it worth getting a breaker bar? I was just going to pull the spare tire one from the trunk.

You don't need a breaker bar but it'll be easier to use than the lug wrench in the car. If you struggle with the lug wrench you can use a cheater bar (bit of pipe added to the handle) or spend $15 on the breaker bar for next time.

Using the torque wrench as a breaker bar will damage it.

As opposed to what? Taking your car to a garage that only uses air wrenches and doesn't check torque or not torque checking a few days after installing?

I think so. Much better leverage and sockets usually fit better than the one in the trunk.

For those of you that have a torque wrench and a breaker bar... why?
When I change my tires I just use my torque wrench to loosen the nuts.

Better read the product manual next time. Torque wrench is designed to tighten nuts to certain spec but not loosen nuts. Better have your torque wrench recalibrated or buy a new one.

Yeah, you don't want to do this.
