[Princess Auto] $11.99 Ratchet Tie Down Straps 4pc 1"x10' 900lb Red

These things are super-useful for strapping down cargo in your trunk bed or roof-rack. Instead of using ropes and practicing your scouts knots, these bad boys just hook on, tighten up, and secure your load in seconds. I've also used them for hanging tarps camping, rolling up mattress for moving, and other situations that would otherwise require a rope. From my observation $12 for 4 is a solid price. And of course PA has free pandemic ship.

Update: Break Strength vs. Working Load Limit Rating
https://www.etrailer.com/question-190226.html
"The working load limit is the safe working load limit for the strap. The max break strength instead is how much weight it will hold right before it breaks. Basically WLL is 1/3 the max break strength."

These work like garbage. Jams alot

The release on the spring on the handle goes to the side and has to be put back in place to use it.

Title says 900 lbs. Description says 300 lbs.
-Read store exceptions before combining discounts with cash back sites
-HomeDepot clearance prices are not shown on stocktrack or HD.ca
-There is a difference between NEED (necessities) and WANT (desires). The word NEED is over-used on RFD and in general.

Probably should trust the lower rating.

If these are the same, than there is some clarification in the link as well

they have different weight ratings available.
My parents use those for securing the bow and stern of their kayaks on their vehicle for transporting. Quick and easy.

Two different ratings. 900lbs is the break strength vs. 300lb working load for EACH strap. If you strap down a load with all 4 straps your safe working load limit is 1200lbs.

Updated OP to reflect this standarized rating system.

Damn I just bought a set on amazon for $22 but it did come with some bungee cords and some other accessories... probably about the same quality.

Might get this and return the amazon one. Home depot also has the husky brand 4pack for $15

Little bit of cleaning and lube goes a long way with the ratchet mechanism. I have $50USD straps and given enough age and grit in the ratchet they don't move smoothly. I like to spray a bit of deep creep lube like Rust Check to maintain these things.

What are your thoughts on these instead?

The ratchets jamming up all the time would drive me nuts as well.

If you want something stronger consider these guys, on sale for 10 bucks every once in a while: https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/ ... -p8252561e

1000-Lb working load and they have a floating D-ring that lets you properly hook the strap to itself like a noose when the hook won't fit over anything. Hooking directly to the strap can damage or fray the webbing. Not sure why the floating rings aren't more common.

Yes - the Home Depot deal is much better - the $5 extra for the Home Depot strap is absolutely worth it. Both for strength and mechanics
