Protection Plan fir Sofa

Hi,
I am buying the leather sofa from Chesterfield Toronto. The total cost of 3 big sofa is $8400. They are suggesting to take the protection plan for 5 yrs for any any accidental damage etc. But I am reluctant to take the extra protection plan with $499 for 5 year. Should i take the protection plan and it’s worth? My kids are 13 and 15. Any advise on this? Thanks

Protection plans, like any after purchase 'insurance' are pure profit for the store and that is why they are pushing it. No one can tell you if its right for your situation or even if they will honor it when your time of need comes. If you do want it, READ the terms and conditions for what is excluded on the protection.

Don't bother. Doubtful they'd honour it anyways if you need to use.

So occasional use? If you have no pets then the added protection plan sounds useless...

When we purchased new mattress, they were trying to sell us protection plan. But the fine prints are that it would require us to purchase their mattress protective mat which was very expensive.

You paid lots for the sofas, they will last long time. Your kids are grown up, you don’t have to worry.

Protection plan is not needed. Just maintain the using common sense, wipe clean after spill.

Waste of money. Took it from LAZBOY, had a claim for cleaning stains. They just used a off the shelf upholstery cleaner.

Treat the leather as you treat your own skin. I use a rag with warm water to wipe them down every so often. Before the winter, I clean and treat them with a leather protectant to help with dry winter climate.

I didn’t get a protection plan but my sofa was under warranty. The middle was clearly buckling. I had to jump through hoops just to get them to acknowledge there was a problem. Took over 6 months for them to finally send someone to pick up the piece of shit. Thry were also assholes about it.

Chesterfield makes solid couches so I’d skip it.
