PSA: FandangoNow has agreed to buy Vudu which is Walmart USA's streaming service

For those with a Vudu account, I received an email to say that FandangoNow (owned by Comcast) has agreed to by Vudu. What this means for Vudu users is unknown at this time. I'm not too worried since my Vudu, Fandango, Google Movies, and USA iTunes accounts are linked to Movies Anywhere.

When Vudu shuts down, I'm going to miss their Instawatch feature because this is how I got good deals on the streaming version of a movie (e.g. Bohemian Rhapsody 4k, Bloodshot 4, Doctor Sleep 4k, etc.).

Here's the email:

Vudu to be acquired by Fandango

Hi Vudu customers,

We have some exciting news to share with you!

Vudu has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Fandango, the ultimate digital network for all things movies & TV.

While there will be many more exciting things to share in the months ahead, nothing about the Vudu experience is changing - your movie & TV library is safe, and you will continue to have access to all your Vudu apps across your favorite devices.

Vudu will continue to deliver an amazing experience, and we promise that the future will bring more new features, offerings, and other benefits as we join the Fandango family. In the meantime, you can find more details here.

Sincerely,
Vudu team
