PSA: random first National Bank credit card on my credit report (SCOTIABANK CLIENTS)

Hi everyone.

If you bank with Scotiabank, check your credit report.

My coworker told me he checked his Tranunion credit report and a "First National Bank" credit card showed up.

It does not show up on Equifax.

I checked mine out of curiosity and I have the same thing, but different account#.

My coworker and I have nothing in common other than both banking with Scotiabank.

I checked within the Scotiabank app first, then creditkarma (Tranunion) and borrowell (Equifax).

I just thought this was a strange coincidence, is anyone else impacted by this

I'm going to notify Tranunion on Monday to have it removed

interesting checked on Scotia and there is one but closed back in 2014. checked on credit karma and it shows open as below. could be a screw up at transunion and not related to Scotia. my Scotia account is only about a year old.

I have this on my file too, as a Scotiabank Amex.

I think it's a glitch in reporting from CreditKarma's side - while I pull my file from the actual TransUnion through BMO, it still reports as Scotiabank Amex.

OP is seeing it through Scotia Banks Creditview Dashboard, which has nothing to do with Credit Karma.
Do you also have, or have had a WalMart MasterCard?

Same issue here too. Scotia AMEX is showing up as a First National Bank credit card on CreditView/Credit Karma. Never had a WalMart credit card.

Does yours also say First National/Duo Bank?
That's the interesting part to me.

Yes it does. Actually I have a Scotia AMEX from way back in 2014 that I closed in 2015. That one also shows up as First National/Duo Bank. So strange.

Haha interesting indeed.
Just checked RBC CreditView Dashboard, and same here.
This card has been closed since 2018, also a ScotiaBank Amex.
Never had a Wally World card

So @BengaliPrince and @DeletedMemories , mystery is solved, and I presume you both have or had a ScotiaBank Amex?

So I had my daughter check her Credit Karma to see if her tradeline changed names (she actually had a Walmart MC), and it still says Duo Bank Mastercard Walmart.
I'm very intrigued how this could happen, especially since the Scotia card was an Amex, and is being labelled a MC.

I checked through Desjardins, which also pulls through TU and I’m seeing the same thing for a former Scotia Amex. Might be a glitch on TU’s side.

Should be rather easy to figure out what the account actually is.
In our case, it’s a ScotiaBank Amex that shows up like this.
It could be a different card for you, so look for a card you opened in June 2015, has a credit limit of 14.5k and has the last 4 digits of 0806.
