Public mobile - 2nd Month free on $25+ plans - New activation only

Deal Link:
Expiry:
September 8, 2019
Effective September 7, 2019 until September 8, 2019 at 11:59PM ET, we are offering your next 30 days for $0 when you activate on a $25/mo plan or higher online and in-store at participating retailers.

Able to stack with friend referral ($10 credit for new customer).

Free SIM card at Walmart until September 18. This promotion may be store dependent. YMMV.

RBC card holders also can get extra discount:

Public Mobile
Tangerine
Thread Summary
Advantages
Public mobile uses Telus/Bell towers, so good coverage across Canada
No overages. Once you use up your allotment, the service just stops (ie. data).
Ability to lower costs via various means
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-h ... ward-rules
No contract. No credit checks.
Cheaper plans than the big three

Disadvantages

No call centre. Any issues with billing, technical, etc. has to go through online forum. It takes time to get things fixed.

No international roaming, except to USA (need to buy 10 day roaming package)

Long distance calling to certain number of countries (18 - including US and Canada)

Data is 3 G (capped Lte) - for most people, should not make a big difference.

No unlimited data like Lucky (low speed)

No Wifi calling or eSIM.
BYOD - PM does not sell devices.

Thanks for sharing. I had actually reposted this less than a minute after you.

A note for online activations: The activation must be done either on September 7th or 8th by 11:59pm EDT to qualify. Simply ordering a sim card through the Public Mobile website is not enough.

The RBC promo is pretty good as well, depending on the plan you choose though you might end up saving more or the same amount as with this promo.

Why not take both? The terms say that combining promos is fine.

My friend activated the other day and he could not find a place to enter RBC promo for the life of him and he's the sharpest guy I know. Has anyone activated recently to see this? I almost want to activate just to find that out for him.

You just put it in the same spot you'd put any referral code. As for where exactly I forget but on the main page of activation.

My understanding was if you activate in store you cannot use the promo code as that is the same as a referral, they're input in the same fashion.

Read promo details carefully.
- Even you have PM SIM card at hand. Don't activate it yet. Wait another 50 minutes after midnight...
- Make sure you activate minimum $25 plan or higher priced plan in order to get the second 30 days cycle free.
- Activate with a referral code to get $10 bill credit within 72 hours after activation - Usually next morning.

Koodo $25 plan, Public Mobile $37 5GB, $13 250MB, $7 50min/50text,
Zoomer loyalty family plan for 3 lines $95/6GB, $0 FPL home phone

Public Service Announcement:
PM does not have a call center. Supports are provided by PM Community Forum. Moderator wait time is 2 - 3 days. Therefore, you may be out of phone service 2 or more days. With this in mind, if you are running a business or your job depending on a working phone. PM is not for you. Do your research. Ask questions before activation. Don't complain after activation because of the 2 - 3 days wait time for the moderator.

BTW, PM is prepaid service provider. There is no refund if you change your mind 1 days after activation.

Referral code is entered on first page of activation. Promo codes are entered when choosing the plan.

Promo codes and referral codes are different from each other.

The RBC Promo is only available for online activations.

Thanks for the clarification.

So you cannot benefit from the free SIM, which was my point.

That depends on if you can find someone to provide you with a free or discounted sim card that you can use for online activation.

Can we get a free Sim from Walmart and then activate it later online?

No, a store wouldn't give you a free sim to activate later. What we they gain from that?
