pumkin pie choices

I am trying to decide between the "Artisan" pumpkin pie at food basic or the Farmers market pumkin pie at Zehrs, and as a alternative I guess there is always sarah Lee frozen pumpkin pie if neither of the other two are worth it. specifically, if you could choose, which one would it be the Farmers market or the Artisan? thanks.

TBH, I would buy neither and instead would go Costco to buy their pumpkin pies. Unfortunately, since I do not wish to put on more weight, I have stopped buying pumpkin pies 2 years ago.
You can save even more by NOT spending ;)

The Farmers Market pies come in to the store par-baked and frozen and you can buy them that way and bake at home. Just confirm directions at the bakery counter. Freshest pie possible.

I wouldn't do the Artisan pie because it's baked then shipped; Walmart has a pie comparable to the Farmer's Market that is baked in-store. 2/$10 I think this week.

I just picked up the Farmers market pumpkin pie. it is frozen and par baked, and I think it only takes about 20 minutes to finish cooking it. nothing like fresh pumpkin pie with whipped cream for a nice dessert. I like brownies too, but can't decide if I should make the ones with chocolate or with coco powder.

From frozen you would need over and hour so I think that's from defrosted, right?

Honestly NOTHING tastes like homemade (maybe not Gramma's homemade... But DIY is not that difficult).

Step One:
1 Can of ED Smith Pure Pumpkin or Pumpkin Pie Filling

Step Two:
Peel off Label and read instructions

Step Three:
Gather Ingredients... Very basic
(Pumpkin Pie Filling includes spices... Pure Pumpkin you add spices to your preference)

Step Four:
Combine Ingredients

Step Five:
Pour into 2 Frozen Pie Shells

Step Six:
Bake until knife / pie tester / toothpick comes clean (about 45 Minutes)

Step Seven:
Cool.

Step Eight:
Serve warm or cold with Ice Cream / Real Whip Cream / Dream Whip

Step Nine:
Eat or Freeze Leftovers... If any. 2nd Pie good now or for Christmas / New Years.

My first choice is from costco and then from Loblaws or No frills. The metro pie i find too sweet

However the Costco pie is huge and has a nice flavor

Kids like the whip cream on top

that sounds not too difficult. I will try it in the near future. I usually will attempt brownie recipes but when it comes to pie I hesitate for some reason.

I bought a pumpkin pie from Superstore last year. I can't remember the brand, I don't think it was President's Choice but it was something generic. It was terrible, definitely avoid these.

Aw, they ask $4 for a can of pumpkin and $3 for sweetened condensed milk and $3 for pie shells and it's already cheaper to buy a pie than make one, nevermind the rest of the ingredients.

it says to preheat oven to 150C and bake for 20 minutes. but first you have to thaw at room temp for four hours. it doesn't give instructions from frozen. I paid 4.97 for it and another 1.99 for some heavy cream to make whipped cream, Lactancia. My hope is that by baking it fresh that the crust will be nice and flaky and not wet and pasty.

Somebody will have canned pumpkin on sale this week for less.
I've never used sweetened condensed milk in any pumpkin pie I've made.

1st choice - Costco. Good pie and you just can't beat the value.
2nd - Pointshubby's advice

last:
- premium grocery store pie (i.e. bakery). The value isn't there. Overpriced.
- pre-packaged grocery store cheap pie. Yuk. The quality isn't there.

Costco's pie has the wrong filling to crust ratio IMO. And it's huge: 1.6 kg vs. 1kg (0.6kg being the too much pumpkin filling.) It's factory made too with more of an industrial look than the Farmer's Market. I think OP can fake out the FM pie as homemade because of the crust and home baking ;)

I saw pumpkin at Zehrs for $2.77 this week I guess. The sweetened condensed milk is just a shortcut for sugar and cream without the fat and you can get Rooster brand (PC brand) for $1.88. On sale, you're already at prepared pie price with two ingredients.

Home made is the only way I can go for pumpkin pie. No comparison to store bought.

If theres no time I'll buy ready made pie crust to make it in.
That's my 2cents worth

If I'm consuming calories, it needs to be the best pumpkin pie or close to it. That also if serving mostly adults.

If you are serving more kids than adults, then just get the ones under $5 otherwise it's a waste.

That sounds realllly good but I did a maple walnut streusel topped one one year and everybody told me I ruined Thanksgiving ha ha.

You and me, we'll have the good stuff.
