Puropost question shipping online newbie!

Hey all

So I am not sure if this post belong's in this "exact" forum because I don't post in RFD often.

However I recently decided to buy something off The Shopping Channel (yes I've had previous good experiences with them)
However because of this pandemic I decided to pay extra to get them to ship it Purolator instead of Canada Post :/ (Reason being I have another order coming in and it was due on the 11th and it's stuck in Mississauga.

However my question is what exactly is Puropost? Because I hit the tracking number it takes me to Canada Post (Glitch?) but I traced it on Purolator and that's what it said service is Puropost now I've never heard of it.

Hoping someone has experience with this post and I really hope I have no delays with anything really!

Thanks a bunch :)

Puropost is one of those hybrid shipping services were 2 companies work together. in this case purolator and canada post. pretty much purolator bring the package to your city but then they will hand it off to Canada post to make the final delivery.

This

And in fact .. the Courier Co Purolator is 91% owned by Canada Post
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purolator_Inc.

So this arrangement for e-commerce orders from Cdn Cos is pretty common

Yeah I do realize it is 91% owned by Canada Post but I am just kind of lost. I've only ever had full shipping with Purolator

So does this mean I should actually get the package quicker instead of just going with Canada Post?

and thank you!

Timing who knows ... during Crazy Covid Days.

It is what it is.

TSC Distribution Centre is in Mississauga
You are in Bracebridge (as per your RFD Profile)
It will be Courier to your closest Canada Post Depot
Then Canada Post to your SuperMailbox / Door

Faster than just Canada Post right now (HUGE backlog in major cities for parcels )
But when exactly you’ll get it
Is anyone’s guess
As Courier Cos are busy as much as they are @ Christmas too
Local Post Office to your door tho should be relatively quick
Letter mail for example ... is having very few delays
(letter mail = MORE AUTOMATION = less Covid Physical Distancing Manpower issues )

Yeah I was just wondering as I said I have a package, hair clippers stuck in Mississauga it was originally supposed to be here Friday, got changed to Monday and it still is in Sauga I am assuming! LOL

I'm just anxious for this package particularly.

Yeah TSC said no later than the 25th but if you pay for courier they should just do full Purolater instead of half/half.

Understand your Courier comment

BUT ... it might be an GOOD operational decision to do the split

Canada Post is stressed to the Max right now in Parcel Delivery
(Not so much in letter mail / local post offices )

And Courier Cos are also maxed out

Splitting it / handing it off will prob be a quicker solution than either just Canada Post ... or just Purolator

Think ... Courier truck does pick up @ TSC ... takes it to Purolator Sorting Depot ... Sorts ... Parcel gets on a Courier Truck destined for Bracebridge ... along with many other items going to your area. One truck ... one drop off to the local Post Office ... they do the resort ... and then the delivery that goes out to you with the rest of the mail.
Otherwise ... Purolator would have to drive that whole truckload around door to door. Sounds good until you think they’d be doing just that every day with every run they make from Mississauga. This way they can make multiple runs up to Bracebridge from Mississauga in a day ... and your package moves along much faster.
(NOTE - this is just a simplified example ... real logistics might be a tad different )

I have had several parcels during Covid go just Canada Post
Or, just Courier (UPS )
The delays have been staggering.
4 Weeks from Quebec City
Over a week from Montreal (on an otherwise EXPEDITED 2 Day Parcel )

You should prob fare better than either of those 2 situations

Your package is coming from the USA. Puropost is a service where Purolator's US arm consolidates Canada-bound shipments from major US suppliers, clears it into Canada and hands it off to Canada Post for delivery. It's a cheaper service than full courier to the final mile, but is subject obviously, to the service levels the post office is operating under. Not that the courier network is handling it any better right now either.

I can honestly hope not, at where we stand right now it will take ages. and I am anxious for my package. But it seriously makes me wonder because Canada Post is waiting for package and it's supposed to be Brampton and as the other user said TSC's warehouse is in Mississauga. I just hope it still comes Purolator to Bracebridge where I am because Canada post is so behind right now.

Don't know what else to say. Puropost is a US to Canada "faster than post, cheaper than courier" option for bulk shippers. It's not something available in Canada. Just because a company is in Canada doesn't mean their stuff is all shipped from within Canada. I ordered a Blue Jays shirt off their website and it came Puropost from the US. Depends on the products. Things like you see on TSC on the TV are perfect examples of items that would be shipped that way. Do a half hour sales blast, sell a few thousand of something and bulk ship them from the US already addressed and induct them in the Canadian postal system. Having USPS pick that stuff up and process it, and transport it to Canada to give to Canada Post would add many days. And since Canada Post owns Purolator, they keep all the money under their tent rather than some of it going to USPS.
