Question about PayPal Invoices received for orders placed last year

I have a question for my friends out here about PayPal invoicing.

I placed some online orders for collectibles in 2019 and I paid through PayPal. I had received email notifications that part of the orders were cancelled because the vendor didn't have stock. Today I am receiving PayPal invoices from the vendor for some of the cancelled items that they claim shipped to me but did not charge me for. In the invoice it says that PayPal wouldn't fund it. I now have to search through my collectibles and verify if the items were received. The order numbers and SKUs that they reference line up with my order history, so someone could be doing an audit and trying to recover from past shipping mistakes.

I am worried because the PayPal Invoices that the vendor is sending me through PayPal are at the vendor's internet domain, but belong to individuals. ie: instead of orders@vendor.ca the paypal address is (asian sounding name)@vendor.ca. Could an employee at the company have set up a PayPal account through their work email and be sending invoices out on their own? Would there be any legal ramifications if I ignore the invoices? Can the vendor open a dispute and take the funds from me through PayPal without my permission? What do I do?

sellers can't open disputes on a buyer. only buyers on the seller. they can't really do anything to force u to pay other then if u legitly owe them money and don't pay they can ban u from placing future orders.

No they can not take the money from you and you do not have to respond to these invoices. They cant open a dispute, too much time has passed and a shipping/billing error on their part is not something they can dispute anyway. Do not click on any links either. It sounds suspicious like someone got access to your order history and is trying to trick you into paying, especially since its not coming from the exact original vendors paypal address. The orders that were cancelled were not shipped and sounds as though items you do have in your collection are from previous, paid/shipped orders. I would even go as far as to report this.

There is a chance that one or more of the cancelled items were shipped to me because I possess one or more of the collectibles that were cancelled but I cannot tell if I ordered them online or bought them in a store, especially since I toss the receipts when I am satisfied that there are no defects or reason to return/exchange. I am an honest person and I want to do what is right.

contact the store directly and ask them to provide the tracking number for each of the ones they want u to pay for then u can check the tracking and if says u got it pay for those ones if they can't then dont pay them nothing
