Quick Question (Food Waiting...)

Cooked rice last night for 6:30pm dinner. Forgot about it in the unplugged cooker until I refrigerated it at 10:30pm. So now I have my lunch here with that 4 hour rice and wondering if it's safe to eat. Thanks.

It was unplugged and essentially room temperature for 4 hours though.

luckily rice isn't meat/dairy so it doesn't go bad because it's not refrigerated, much like how you don't have to keep a banana in a refrigerator either ;)

Don't eat it.

"Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, a bacterium that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive.

If the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores can grow into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea.

The longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that the bacteria or toxins could make the rice unsafe to eat."

Actually this is very false.
Rice is actually quite dangerous left out at room temperature.

I eat leftover rice from a rice cooker not plugged in the next day all the time?

Chinese fast food sells rice and sushi that is not refrigerated all the time and just left in the open?

Even places like chipotle, burrito boys, jimmy the greek, taco bell they have rice just in the trays, they're uncovered and I'm sure they're not heated much...
