Rapid City- Mount Rushmore

Hello I was thinking of visiting Mount Rushmore this summer. Does anybody have any good suggestions for where to stay and what attractions to see. We will be driving down and don't really want to camp. Thanks

We did this area as part of a drive Coast to Coast with the kids one summer
Money was tight, so it was a semi camping trip
In that we stayed at KOA Camp Sites that had “Camping Cabins” *
Two of the best the whole trip were in the western states
Billing’s ... which is WHERE KOA Started, and where we based ourselves for Yellowstone
And in the Black Hills, where we based ourselves for Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse & Deadwood

We arrived in the afternoon
And bought tkts @ the KOA for the Rushmore Nightly Illumination
They pick everyone up on Coach Buses
It was AWESOME ... one of our best outings that trip
Nice not having to worry about driving & parking etc

I see by the websites, there are more than one KOA in the area now
But I believe the one we stayed at was this one
https://koa.com/campgrounds/mount-rushmore/

* just bring your sleeping gear, cooler, and maybe a few things to make breakfast
(Cabins have electricity)
We found these cabins to be cheaper in summertime prime tourist season destinations than hotel rooms
And the kids thought it was a ton of fun

My Rushmore (+ crazy horse, deadwood from above)
Devils tower ( close encounters of the 3rd kind)
Little big horn ( Custer’s last stand)
SD air museum + tour of Ellsworth AFB ( b1 bombers + training minuteman missle silo)
Badlands national park
Minuteman national monument ( missle control bunker and missle silo)

Further out =
Yellowstone National Park
Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman

Agreed
Good list

But some of these are pretty far afield from The Dakota’s
Considering the OP is driving in from Manitoba and not Alberta or BC
