Rapid Test Prices and PCR Test Prices in British Columbia/GVR

Looks like we are getting hosed out here in BC. Shoppers isn't offering Antigen Testing and Lifelabs seems to have a monopoly on PCR testing in terms of price. Here are the best pricing I've been able to find:

Rapid Test: Midtown Richmond $99.00 if you book online.

PCR Test: Lifelabs thru Shopper's Drug Mart is $199.00.

I know in Alberta and Ontario you can get rapid testing for $40.00 and PCR testing for as low as $99.00. Does anyone have any better info for British Columbia?

Just an update. We are still getting hosed here on testing costs compared to Alberta, Ontario. I did find a place that does Rapid Testing for $75.00. www.jchealth.ca is offering rapid test for 75 dollars but is in Surrey. Still better than the next closest rate which is $99 at Midpoint Medical in Richmond or at A+ Travel Tests in Vancouver. Hope this helps. Please contribute to this thread if you see any cheaper options.

Anyone know a rapid antigen location near Coquitlam Centre or Burnaby. I'm fully vaccinated and will be flying from YYZ to YVR to see my elderly dad with respiratory issues. Rather be safe than sorry and make sure I didn't pick up any germs from the airport or plane ride.

If you are getting tested for non travel purposes, the testing is free. You can check on provincial sites to see where the testing centres are. Do not pay for testing unless its for travel purposes.

How long does it take to get the results from these free tests? I'll be paying for a hotel the nights I am not with my dad so if it takes 2 days then I think I'm better off paying for a test with instant results.

Integrated Wellness Medical Centre in North Vancouver charges $80 for the Rapid test. Also, A+ Travel Tests will price match (according to their website) for those who can’t go North Van.

For short trips that are less than 72 hours, Canadian citizens, people registered under the Indian Act, permanent residents and protected persons travelling outside of Canada are allowed to do their pre-entry molecular test before they leave Canada.

https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/trave ... nto-canada

Is this pre entry test and PCR test the same thing? or different?

All this means is that in the event your trip is <2-3 days, you can use any test that you may have taken before departure upon return to Canada, as long as the timeframe since testing is <72 hours. You would not need to take two tests in this instance.

It still has to be an accepted form of test, so a PCR/NAAT test only.

Impossible for them to check, I would imagine. I doubt they even will, aside from asking you, given it's an easy money maker for them. Probably just something to prevent any backlash from the public, since travel is still heavily frowned upon by some people.

New cheapest PCR is $123 at A+ Travel Tests in Kerrisdale. Used their test before and no issues.

https://aplustraveltests.ca/online-booking

However, it is limited to certain destinations:
US (except Hawaii), UK, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Netherland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Czech Republic.

Otherwise, Shopper at $150 is the cheapest without restrictions.

Does anyone have an URL with a list of Shoppers Drug Marts in GVR which have RT PCR tests? I've randomly searched quite a few individual stores in Burnaby and Coquitlam and none of them indicate "International outbound travel COVID-19 PCR testing".

Want to fly to Thailand via Vancouver.

I can’t seem to link it as it redirects but go to the LifeLabs FlyClear PCR page and there’s a map/list at the bottom.
