I'm really sorry for you if you missed the «twice a year» 50% bonus promotion RBC -» Avios conversion points that last for at least the last 10 years...

What is the preferred? I have the visa infinite privilege and its only 1.5 per $1. Unless I recalled it wrong.

Yea, that seems about right. My mistake too, the privilege is 1.25 points per $1.

you can convert at any time but twice a year they used to do the 50% extra point promotion. Recently changed to 30% extra. Sucks.

Bmo rewards is 1$/2 points. That explains the 10,000 + points needed for the apple watch.

But only Avion card holders can convert to airline points tho, So change card to Avion card and all previous points can be converted too.

Why not just get a bmo world elite mastercard where your dollar value per point is automatically doubled? No waiting for some avion conversion that occurs once a year.
It sounds like both rbc reward points and bmo reward points both go for about 10,000 points for $100 redeemable points for flights/vacations.

Doubled assuming rbc is 1$/point and bmo WE is $2/point.

Thanks Op, I couldn't resist...

Funny enough...I'd bought the fitbit Charge HR today from Costco for $114.... Guess that's going back now. I just wish there was a way to exchange this one for the sapphire display and pay the difference. Maybe I'll try doing that at the apple store.

The points for Avios was a WAY better deal (50% bonus), flew from Toronto to Miami in business round trip for less than the price of this watch in points. If you have access to pick up in the USA just search deals for a used apple watch from cowboom, they had it for 279 (same model but open box). The watch is fantastic though! :)

Damn really wanted to talk myself into this deal BUT BEWARE with the RBC airfare schedule 45,000 points gets a long haul flight and just for kicks I tried DTW to Aruba to see and that would cost 45,000 points +$152 (the tax) vs the same flights from the airline are $569USD all in. So basically those 45,000 points are saving me roughly $450 USD or $600 Canadian!!! Basically making using the 45,000 points on the watch like spending $600 Canadian on it which is clearly not worth it. Thanks OP, great deal for those that DON'T USE their points for travel. Otherwise not a good deal at all, cheaper to buy it from apple.

If you're taking the flight any way, it's a better use of your money. If you're taking the flight just to use up the points, yeah, it's not a very smart way to use your points.

Except it looks like they've now changed it to 30%, so yeah, you *do* need a time machine if you want to get 50% bonus anymore. Avios is really only worth it if you do short haul flights, with no connections required though. And book a good bit in advance, as well.

I got my watch yesterday and I ordered it on Nov 27. I lived in Calgary. I believe it is shipped from Apple.
