RCA/Haier/Avera/Fluid/Sylvania/Technicolor/ProScan 49"/55"/65" UHD 4K TV Owners Thread

What panels are inside these sets ?
For the 49" 10-bit "simulated" SPVA LSC490FN Samsung panel

For the 55" (depending on the production year):
- 2016 55" 10-bit "simulated" IPS HV550QUB BOE panels.
- 2017 55" 10-bit "simulated" SPVA LSC550FN18 Samsung panel
- 2017 (late) RTU5540-C 10-bit "Native" HVA ST5461D08-1 CSOT panel
- 2017 (late) RTU5540-B 8-bit ADS HV550QUB-N4D BOE panel. mixed reports about the yellow tint issue, proceed at your own risk.
- Technicolor TCU5563 10-bit "simulated" SPVA LSC550FN18 Samsung panel
- Technicolor TC5580-UHD 10-bit "native" ADS, 120hz HV550QUB-H11 BOE panel. mixed reports about the yellow tint issue, proceed at your own risk.

For the 65" (depending on the stand configuration, box lists a B or C right on it).
- Haier/RCA-B version (two legged stand) LSC650FN08 (SPVA, simulated 10 bit, made by Samsung).
- RCA-C version (single stand) T650QVR01.5 (AMVA3, native 10 bit, supports 4:4:4 Chroma @ 60hz, made by AUO).
- Fluid version (two legged stand) T650QVN01.0 (AMVA3, native 10 bit, 120hz, made by AUO) or V650DJ4-QS5 Rev T1 (S-MVA, native 10 bit, 120hz, made by Innolux).
p.s. Late 2016 reports are of a generic label (3840x2160) listed instead of actual panel model.

2018/2019 Reports:
RNSMU5036-B: Sharp/Panda CC495PU1L (ASV, native 10 bit)
RHOS581SM: INNOLUX V580DJ4-QE1 (S-MVA, native 10 bit)
RTU5540-B: Samsung LSC550FJ13-W (SVA, native 10 bit, 3D capable)
RTU5540-B: Samsung LSC550FN19-W (SVA, native 10 bit)
RTU5540-B: BOE HV550QUB-N4D (ADS, 8 bit)
RTU5540-C: TCL/CSOT ST5461D08-1 (HVA, native 10 bit, High Color Gamut)
RTU5540-C: Sharp/Panda LC546PU2L-01 (ASV, native 10 bit)
RTU5540-D: Sharp/Panda LC546PU2L-03 (ASV, native 10 bit)
RTU5540-D: Sharp/Panda LC546PU1L01 (ASV, native 10 bit)
RTU5540-D: Samsung LSC550FN23-W (SVA, native 10 bit)
RTU5540-D: TCL/CSOT ST5461D07-1 (HVA, native 10 bit, High Color Gamut, 5ms response time)
RTU6549: Innolux V650DJ4-QS5 (S-MVA, native 10 bit, High Color Gamut, 3D capable, 120hz)

How to check for the manufacturing date ?
For the RCA/Technicolor/ProScan and other Curtis brands, the manufacturing date is part of the serial number stickered on the box. Serial number starts with "AYYMMDD" so serials starting with "A1610" should be fine.
For the Haier, the manufacturing date is "encoded" as part of the serial stickered on the box. the Serial number ends with "YM-DNNNN (Year-Month-Date-ID)", each single digit goes from 1-9 then A-Z (10-35), Days going past 30/31 falls into the following month. So serial ending with "GA-?????" should be fine.

How to access service menu (MENU->1147)
With the TV on, press "menu" (then release), that should bring up the menu screen.
press "1" (then release) nothing happens
press "1" (then release) nothing happens
press "4" (then release) nothing happens
press "7" (then release) Service menu gets overlaid on top of whatever running on your TV.
** other variations reported to work: MENU->8893, MENU->0000 and SOURCE->2580

Any calibration settings ?
No two panels, no two rooms and no two pairs of eyes are created equal, every one needs to calibrate on his/her own, here is a basic and straight forward guide (needs to be done from service menu):
- Get "basic settings\black clipping.mp4", "basic settings\white clipping.mp4" and "Misc Patterns\A - Additional\color clipping.mp4" from MP4-2c.7z
- Disable "Dynamic Contrast" and "DLC (Dynamic Luminance Control)"
- Calibrate Brightness with "black clipping.mp4" file.
- Calibrate Contrast with "white clipping.mp4" file.
- Calibrate RGB gain with "color clipping.mp4" file.
That should get you started. If need further info here is the background related to the patterns.
Please don't share calibration settings in this thread.

Thread Posting Guide
- All these sets are running variations of the same firmware, they share most settings and service menu options, although this makes most contributions applicable to all these sets, yet please add a reference to your specific set when posting (RCA 55", Haier 55", RCA 65"-B, RCA 65"-C, Haier 65").

Background
The RCA RLED5536-UHD is the same Haier branded 55E5500U set (aside from iffy working ARC, CEC and photo/mp3 player these are the same down to firmware bugs and panel issues).
The RCA RLED6515-UHD comes with two variations that seems to match the ProScan PLED6515 of which Version B is the (same Haier 65E3550A)
Based on reports on both the RCA and Haier sets, sets with manufacturing date in October and later are not suffering from the messed up yellow issue.
Yellow issue is not applicable to the 65" sets.

How to check for the messed up yellows issue ?
You don't need any input for the check, just turn on the TV, press "menu" button, then hit "1147" to bring up service menu, check the color of the service menu option selection frame.
- yellow/lemon-yellow : good set.
- olive green : affected set.
Furthermore, if you have an access to a browser load RGB yellow on the TV and judge for yourself how "yellow" is your "yellow" :)

Thread Posting Guide
- If you are set affected by the yellow rendering issue, please consider posting at SickBeast's excellent RCA 55" TV thread, as there is lots of tips and information on how to calibrate your affected TV, as well as info regarding RMA'ing your affected unit.

For the RCA ? 1218 is not working ? is your universal remote a learning one ? if so the code for each single button is listed in the manual.

What panels are inside these sets ?
For the 55" most reports are about simulated 10-bit IPS HV550QUB panels made by BOE, more specifically:

- HV550QUB-B05
- HV550QUB-B81
p.s. Latest reports are of a generic label (3840x2160) listed instead of actual panel model.

Not sure you have the manual for the 65 inch version C linked correctly- My 65" says it is a c version on the box but it has the stand that is one piece but in your post the C version manual link has 2 legs and the B version manual has one.

I think you mean the ProScan manuals, these have the revisions the other way around (B is the single piece stand, C is the two legged stand).

RCA-55 ? attached, each code is on the button.
Or is it the RCA-65 ? in that case the code is 20DF not 1218.

Can we see what others have for their calibration settings? I've messed around for awhile but think it can still get better. Would like to try others. I know it will be different for every room/person, but would still like to try what works for others.

Has anyone been able to change the default bright blue screens (when there's no input for example) to black?

Yes I see now. Mine is a C version RCA 1611 date but has the single version stand.

Weird question - my PS4 colors look awful on port 2. All my other ports with roku, Xbox, and steam link look great. Even the T.V. Antenna sources look great. I'm pretty sure my port is not faulty so I'm blaming the PS4. If you are experiencing this or have PS4 specific settings to share that'd be great :)
