How to check for the manufacturing date ?
For the RCA/Technicolor/ProScan and other Curtis brands, the manufacturing date is part of the serial number stickered on the box. Serial number starts with "AYYMMDD" so serials starting with "A1610" should be fine.
For the Haier, the manufacturing date is "encoded" as part of the serial stickered on the box. the Serial number ends with "YM-DNNNN (Year-Month-Date-ID)", each single digit goes from 1-9 then A-Z (10-35), Days going past 30/31 falls into the following month. So serial ending with "GA-?????" should be fine.
How to access service menu (MENU->1147)
With the TV on, press "menu" (then release), that should bring up the menu screen.
press "1" (then release) nothing happens
press "1" (then release) nothing happens
press "4" (then release) nothing happens
press "7" (then release) Service menu gets overlaid on top of whatever running on your TV.
** other variations reported to work: MENU->8893, MENU->0000 and SOURCE->2580
Any calibration settings ?
No two panels, no two rooms and no two pairs of eyes are created equal, every one needs to calibrate on his/her own, here is a basic and straight forward guide (needs to be done from service menu):
- Get "basic settings\black clipping.mp4", "basic settings\white clipping.mp4" and "Misc Patterns\A - Additional\color clipping.mp4" from MP4-2c.7z
- Disable "Dynamic Contrast" and "DLC (Dynamic Luminance Control)"
- Calibrate Brightness with "black clipping.mp4" file.
- Calibrate Contrast with "white clipping.mp4" file.
- Calibrate RGB gain with "color clipping.mp4" file.
That should get you started. If need further info here is the background related to the patterns.
Please don't share calibration settings in this thread.
