Real Canadian Superstore has certified Angus beef tenderloin for $12.99 per pound in this week's flyer. Might be of interest to someone.

That's unfortunate, sometimes after you trim the trimmings, there is not much meat left..

There's really not much to trim on a tenderloin at all. You remove the silver skin sure, but it's literally the thickness of skin running across a small portion of the whole muscle. It's maybe like 1% of the total weight if we're being super generous?

If you just see silver skin I think those were already trimmed?

I have had pieces like this one.. A lot of the white muscles and stuff which you can't eat.

Just had this last night from a previous sale
A) one of the best steaks you can buy
B) makes 8-10 very thick steaks
C) universal crowd pleaser when having guests over
D) my kids swear that my steaks are better than the Keg”s - i dont know about that…but its very very close

So - had to go out and pick up a few more
Enjoy bbq season

There's decent alternatives this week if you're in the GVR.

I think this is a great deal for AAA/choice tenderloin
Bought a 2.96kg pack, ended up with a 1.6kg fillet.
First time cleaning a tenderloin, I could probably do better next time. I'll be grinding the scraps anyway

5 x 2 inch streaks ~ 200g/each
6 x medallions ~ 100g/each

Also had 7000pts per $70 beef offer

Still not much waste.
Most of that chain that was removed is edible.
I think you are assuming that was thrown away.
You can probably hold all the waste in the cup of one hand.

What was in the video was the same as any I've purchased at Superstore or Loblaw.
Very little waste, but some is just "scraps", unsuitable as steaks.
It makes great taco meat.
