[Real Canadian Superstore] LG 55" 4K UHD TV - $440 + Tax (With $210 in PCO Points)

In the Flyer they have LG 55" 4K UHD TV - $650

Plus we get 25k Points for every $100 spent - So roughly $160
With a bonus 50k Points

$650 - $160 - $50 = $440

Also Check your apps. I just looked and there was a bonus points offer.
27.5k bonus points on spending $275 on anything in store.
Did not include these points in the calculation as its YMMV

Is there any way to check stock availability online? I have never seen a tv for sale inside a store and looking up the flyer online, when I click on the tv I just get "This item is not available. Please choose another."

So really 649.99 since the points don't translate directly into money-in-wallet

Deceptive title. Netting out points to put a dollar cost should be qualified in the title.

Points can be restricted, inflated away, and manipulated more easily than a pure cash savings.

$440 my foot.

you can use points to pay with your PC credit card for car washes and discount gas at Esso and any Loblaws and knock off for shopping. Pretty useful.

You presumably pay tax on the full price, something to bear in mind.
That said i am assuming this is a good quality TV and if so its probably a good deal but its dollar equivalent is an extra $27.50 or $467.50 + tax.

In fact in Rand McNally they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people

keep in mind you also pay taxes on the full price $649.

on no tax days you will save at least $84 for Ontario (for reference).

thats usually the case with points, but for me optimum points are different, being able to use them at so many stores, getting them right away

every one does grocery shopping, you can use them same day on another transaction at same superstore to do your grocery shopping. i am not forced to sit for 6 weeks to see if it shows up (like some airmiles deals)

Points are not cash even if they're redeemed as such.

You aren't paying tax on $440, you're paying tax on $650. OP didn't even include tax on his calculation.

True price is $649.99+tax plus 50,000 points and 150,000 points (25k for every $100 x 6).

If you treat the points as cash 1:1, then it's $734.49 (Ontario) - $200 = $534.49.

Appreciate all the minutiae on points, but we really need to know what model TV this is to assess value.
