[Real Canadian Superstore] [Black Friday] [YMMV] Poor man's OLED?: Skyworth XC9000 55" OLED HDTV $450 + 100k PCO pts

Walking through RCSS (in N Oshawa) and I came across this 55" OLED HDTV for $450. Never heard of Skyworth so I did some research.

Long story short, after reading up some reviews, my feeling is that Skyworth is basically LG value brand and this particular OLED TV is just slightly below the LG A1.

... basically I'm guessing this tv is like the RCA of OLED Face With Tears Of Joy

Anyways at $450 plus 100k PCO pts, if you are PC Optimum pts collector, this 55" OLED works out to like $350 so I bought one for someone who is just interested in casual viewing

Compare that with the "$299" No frills RCA or Walmart Onn hdtvs, for $50 more I'm walking out with a near low-end LG A1 OLED

FYI: London Drugs has the same tv on "sale" for $799

I got this from previous promotion. So far it's good, It's definitely better than those 200-300cad LCD TV. But it's only has HDMI 2.0 and ARC, 60Hz only as well.

And how do you plan to handle should the tv develop a problem just outside of the return period (7days I believe)? I always wonder about buying off brands other than from Costco with its reassuring inexpensive 5yr extended warranty...

I suggest that you turn this tv on for 48hr+ (volume low) ....usually problems if any should surface.

You take a loss. That's what most people do anyway.

I saw these TV here in Quebec a while ago (in Brault & Martineau) and they were about 300-400$ cheaper than the LG sets, so in my opinion no worth it considering what you lose vs LG, but at 350$ factoring the PC points I think it's great value TBH if you are looking for a 55".

If the Android TV is too slow, plug a Firestick or whatever and be done it with.

This tv seems to be a good option for a dedicated console gaming tv, doesnt have all the features but that price...

Known brand quality,HDMI 2.1, 120hz, and Skyworth's processor is not up to par to show the best pictures it can. For most people, does it make a difference ? I don't think so. I would honestly try one if I needed one.

Skyworth is a Chinese company. They make their own panels, nothing to do with LG.
...RCA is hot garbage.

Saying this TV is "slightly below" LG OLED is quite an overstatement.

Nevertheless, I still upvoted because for the price it might be worth it to some.

Their OLED panels are from LG. Nobody else makes them. Vizio, Panasonic and Sony gets their OLED from LG too.

Are these also at Canadian tire? I know they carry the brand, but I have the hardest time figuring out what models they actually have.

Damn, if this is available at Atlantic Superstore, I'll be all over it. Sure it won't be as good as an LG or Sony OLED, but this would still have an LG panel and be perfect for a bedroom TV.
