Also tell his other seller (a friend of mine) that now is time to sell as price is going to down soon.

I guess that's how some of them make money. Either way, they get commission as long as people buy and sell.

When will government actually start to regulate them?

This realtor agent must have crystal ball at home. We don’t. Seriously buy/sell at your comfort level.

Realtors are for the most part only out for themselves.

A friend's realtor "encouraged" them into selling telling them that the market would cool and listing various factors like the interest rate rises.

The next day she posted on her social media that prices were likely to keep increasing into Spring because of record low inventory.

Realtors only care about their commission.

Also in BC their commission rates haven't changed over decades. This means they used to earn 5-10K, then 20K, now 30-40K

BTW many realtors hang out RFD so get ready to be downvoted.

Comparing realtors to Best Buy sales is golden.

I actually think some of the realtors know way less about what they are selling than best buy sales?

And at least you have refund period in Best Buy.

Some of the realtors just care about how fast they can pocket the hefty commission and they don’t care about the fact that for most buyers, that’s their once in life time purchase. Comparing that with Best Buy purchase is unbelievable.

I agree some realtors are great though. Especially those that have good reach. User be aware I guess

In the meantime Investment Advisors have and are continuously shitting on Real Estate because money gone into RE means less money for them to manage (then secretly flip RE themselves).

Every person has their own agenda, you just gonna tune out some parts of what some people say...

Investment advisor will get license revoked if they made similar claims some of the realtors did to their clients.

Agree there will be some bad apples in different sectors.

Just this time, the same realtor is telling my friend and relative total opposite thing to get deal.

So unethical. Wonder how many are like that.

Surprise, surprise some realtors lie (embellish the truth?) to their clients. Same as some politicians and lawyers I know.

That’s why you get a realtor you can trust. It’s ok for them to be wrong, but not ok for them to be deceptive/untrustworthy

Yes

Buyers should have some knowledge of pricing/market or they will be taken for a ride. Buy at his/her comfort level.

I'm not a realtor, I've never sold a house and I've only bought a new build. But if I were to sell mine, despite following the market, and us both being pretty organized, detail oriented and smart (at least we like to think) people, I'd still use one.

Worth it? I don't know. But the anger over a service that no one is forced to use, seems a bit much. The unethical, of course, that's a problem. But unethical anything is a problem.

And end of day, most aren't rich. If you meet one at a bbq, it's not likely they are loaded.

They make a lot for your transaction, but at what personal cost? Would I switch jobs with them? Not a chance.

If I had a Delorean would I go back and be one? Not a chance.

If someone I knew wanted to be one, would I react positively? No, unless they had little options in life.

If I were single and met one at a bar, is their career a positive? No.

To me, realtors on average gotta work for it. Too often people try to quantify why they are overpaid, in hours worked. It's a low brow analysis. If you look at their job from a qualitative perspective, it's a lot of work, at piss poor times of the week, that people wouldn't want to dirty their hands with regardless of the # of hours.

A lot of the time I feel realtors get crapped on by people who make less and/or have crap jobs themselves.

If they have it so easy, don't use one. And go be one.

Realtors are generally useless losers who turn to the profession when they fail in all their other endeavours.

In any sane society these negative value wastes of space would have been made redundant with the advent of the internet. Unfortunately, due to regulatory capture and inertia these no-talent hacks continue to leech off the hard work of others.

Ask yourself why commissions have stayed the same or even increased, when it's easier than ever before to sell a home and the median price of a home has doubled in Canada in less than a decade.

I am not an agent but with the recent hike, there does seem to be a bit of pause with the crazy bidding. I am not saying its right for the agent to push your relative to buy but i would personally buy now if I was in the market rather than wait until april/may where the flood gates would probably open.

Yep, March is also always a bit quieter as it’s spring break. Good time to get a place without competing with 20 other offers.
