Reasonable Caribbean Island - VRBO

I am part of a Turks and Caicos VRBO FB group. Managed to find Myself there while researching Beaches T&C.

It’s a really expensive island.

I was looking into 2021 travel depending on COVID status.

Nice beaches are a priority as well as safety. Obviously a lot goes into the safety aspect, but I’m looking for some place North Americans will typically Rent

We have been to Punta Cana, DR, Samana DR, as well as Negril as an idea of our Caribbean experience

I think Turks is overrated. Yes, it’s a nice beach but there’s hundreds of equally nice beaches elsewhere in the world. There’s literally nothing to do there outside the beach and the island is geographically flat.

For the same price point I would look at St Barth’s.

Other places I would look at... (no particular order)
US Virgin Islands
St Maarten (easy to combine day /over night trips to St Barths’s & Anguilla)
Costa Rica (not Caribbean but has a lot to see and do independently)
Isla Mujeres, MX (stay near Playa Norte)
