Recall verification:MercedesMe setup in a pandemic?

When I bought my MB 2 years ago, I never setup the MercedesMe function. Now there is a software update which supposedly can be done over-the-air.You can verify whether the update has been done on MercedesMe. Otherwise it means a trip to the dealership.
Can one setup a Mercedes Me account without physically going into the dealership?
on the app setup, it fails to recognize that the car belongs to me!
Mercedes Me tech help are not open till Monday.
Thanks.

Dealer registered to you when you took delivery? If not, , then you need to contact dealer or mb Canada

I received the recall notification letter as a registered owner but MercedesMe was never set up.

Since Mercedes Me is an optional registration, dealer may have forgotten to ask you

Technically yes it is possible to set up your Mercedes me without the need to visit your dealership with the new Mercedes me application. This is assuming that the vehicle isn't currently paired to another user. You can always push the meCall button to speak to MMC Support, however they will not be able to pair the vehicle for you over the phone as they can't verify your identity, that will require a dealer visit if you're unable to complete the process via the app.

Download the Mercedes me app and follow the steps, you'll be asked to verify your identity with your Drivers License.

However the update occurs does occur without having Mercedes me installed as long as the vehicle has an LTE connection the OTA will happen.

The letter was a way to also let customers know that they do have Mercedes me as an available feature until the complimentary period runs out.

They should be setting it up as its one of their requirements to pair and activate new vehicles.

I'd be intrigued to know which dealership it was.

That's odd, did you not deal with the delivery specialist there when you picked up the vehicle? He's usually really good. I dont typically worry about that dealership when it comes to pairing and activating.

You can PM me if you want to discuss it further if you'd like.

When I took my delivery, Thornhill dealer never assigned a delivery specialist at all. My SA told me to play around with the infotainment and figure it out myself. Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes

My delivery of my 911 last Saturday happened the same, delivery specialist just setup my iPhone to the car and off I go and figure it out my self this week. Not kidding.

It really depends on the SA. Some SAs prefer doing their own deliveries however since the introduction of Mercedes me connect we created Delivery Specialist positions for the purpose of making sure that activations would get done. All of the corporate dealerships have at least one Delivery Specialist most have 2. Thornhill specifically has 3. Although the delivery specialist don't do all of the deliveries I would say that they do about 80-85% of them per month.

Your SA must be really comfortable with you to do that however that isn't the typical MB experience that is encouraged. I can have a word with him if you'd like :p.

Also since Covid interaction is trying to be limited so I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a huge walk through right now.

In terms of MMC though thats set up at the computer by the SA or Delivert Specialist and takes a whole 2 minutes to complete so it should never be an excuse.

My SA was let go due to covid unfortunately. A nice guy but certainly did not fulfill his duties in delivering my car at the time.

Yeah unfortunately a lot of good people were let go due to Covid last year.

If you ever needed an SA referral I can pass one on to you.

It’s alright. All the signs point to yes. Is it the end of price negotiation...hypothetically speaking?

Not really sure how to answer this question :). I guess it depends on what is or isn't going to happen. Wouldn't really be up to us as Corporate though. All the private dealerships have their own models Pfaff, TRG, Zanchin etc.. I'm more of a product related role.

Hopefully it doesn’t lead to Canadian job losses.

Keep up the good work.
