Reccomendations for a Decent Garden Hose

I'm tired of cheap hoses that end up kinking and getting brittle in the sun.

Any reccomendations on which hose to get?

If you want to spend money and get a reel with it - I've had my Gardena reel for 6 years and I can confidently say its worth every penny.

If you want just a hose, Flexzilla. Also worth the money.

Flexzilla is good, only issue is that it discolours. If you want a 'last forever' hose, get a heavy duty rubber one with brass fittings. Those hoses don't kink and last forever. Their only downside is slightly higher up front cost and weight (they're heavier).

100% rubber hose with brass fittings. It’ll be the last hose you’ll ever buy.

This thread comes up every year. Every year people suggest the latest gimmicks. 100% rubber hose is the only way to go.

Here is what I came up with a while back when shopping for a decent garden hose. I didn't end up buying any of them though and took a chance on the 100' Stanley FatMax when it was on sale at Home Hardware for half price. I'm really happy with the hose. It's so much lighter and kink free when compared to the one I had that I bought from Costco.

DRAMM for sure. The rubber on these are quite substantial - very ridgid, dense, and heavy. Although not as flexible as softer hoses.

Otherwise, Gardena or Flexzilla.

Are there any issues keeping the spigot on the whole summer, and just controlling water flow at the hose end/sprayer?

I have a Briggs & Stratton rubber hose and two or three Flexillas - they are the best (and oldest) hoses I own. Flexilla is lighter but it does discolour in the right/wrong conditions. All the other hoses I own are okay but they get light use. My go-to are the Flexillas.

(I have a large property and rather than carry one hose to multiple locations, I have multiple hoses and water connections).

Picked up the Teknor Apex ZERO-G 5/8" x 75' Hose from Lowes (for Garage) for only $42.49 and the NeverKink 75-ft Contractor-Duty Kink Free Garden Hose from Lowes (for backyard) for only $44.99.

No kinks at all.

Yes, don't do this.

Hot sun + hose always under pressure will reduce the life of the hose

When the hose is not in use, the water sitting inside the hose baking under hot sun could 150F +

This could be well above the rating of many garden hoses which aren't designed for hot water ( domestic home hot water temperature. = 120F)

The hose material heats up, softens and stretches allowing the hose to swell up like a sausage in a bbq

When the hose is not in use, always turn off the water and open the spigot end.

The Stanley Fatmax Professional-Grade Hose was the best hose I've owned. Rarely kinked. Nice soft rubber.

Unfortunately, mine was only 50' and I needed something longer so I got the Flexon from Costco. Biggest POS hose I've ever owned. Claims to be "Anti-Kink" but that's all it does, probably because it's super stiff.
