Recommend an Android Box

Looking to get an android box to watch Netflix primarily. Its to replace a crappy LG bluray player that keeps disconnecting me from Netflix. Needs to maintain a reliable connection, ideally higher resolution and frame rate, wired and wireless connection and for sale from Amazon (no third parties). Under $100 ideally. If you have any recommendations please post a link. Thanks.

If you're looking for under $100 see if you can find a MiBox that comes in under $100 or get the FireTV and and network adapter for it. Stick with an AndroidTV box. They are way better to use with an actual TV.

There are only 2 Android media players available in Canada that support Netflix in HD, the ones that run official Android TV, due to DRM restrictions by Netflix.

The MiBox is about $120 in Canada, but can be ordered from the U.S. or overseas for under $100. It has no ethernet port, only WiFi connection.

The Nvidia Shield is the high-end option. It has the best performance of any of the Android boxes, but it's expensive at > $200, mainly because it's intended to support use as a gaming machine.

The Amazon Fire TV box is also an option, but it's not sold in Canada - only the stick is officially sold here.

Roku also offers a good platform for Netflix, but it won't run Android apps, only Roku channels. To get ethernet you'd need the Premiere+ model.

Amazon's Firestick is the cheapest solution if all you're gonna watch is Netflix. You can also sideload Kodi, Terrarium TV, and other android apps.

Chromecast is also an option for Netflix HD on your TV, although there's no need to pay x2 for the Ultra if you don't need 4K. However, it's WiFi only, and it does have the issue that you need to use your smartphone as the GUI - not the best for spousal units, kids, visitors etc.

You can get a Chromecast ethernet adapter for $19.
