Recommend places to get a couch

Hey all, figured this is the best place to ask (if not, lemme know).

Need some recommendations on places to buy a good quality couch (without exorbitant prices). In GTA-area. Looking for condo-sized.

Going through search results shows me some outdated (at least a few years) info, so want to get an updated idea where folks are getting decent deals (if any to be had) on couches these days.

Assume things may have changed since Covid.

Thanks

Recently bought a Brentwood Classic couch from Stoney Creek Furniture, though I think you can get it elsewhere. Go on the Brentwood Classics site and you can see the different styles and configurations. Made in Canada, decently priced and highly customizable.

Also saw a couple of nice ones at Urban Barn. Can't speak to their sofa quality, but I bought some other furniture from them that was pretty good.

If you are looking for couches that are ready made the brick, bad boys have nice couches you can buy ASAP without having to wait for it to be built etc etc. If you are living in a condo you might benefit from buying something you can assemble and it could be easier to bring up in an elevator.

When i was living in my condo I got a really nice futon couch from structube. It was really stylish and it fit right into an elevator.

Crate and barrel also always has a 20% off deal when you sign up with their email. If you're in the market for a custom American made couch and are willing to wait for it, I think they are the best price point.

Also, in general if you are customizing any part of a couch, prepare to wait months!

Similar experience to the others. I got a couch from Urban Barn years ago and love it. Made in Canada, good warranty (5 years), good quality (mine has held up well), reasonably priced, and I was very happy with the customization options - lots of fabrics and I was able to get a single cushion because I hate sitting on the gap between cushions. They still seem to be good for couches, we were looking recently and considered them but wound up seeing a style we liked elsewhere. In general, it seemed like places with Made in Canada couches offered the best value but yeah, you'll be waiting if you're customizing.

Stay away from the Brick, Leons, Bad Boy as those are all out of style and old looking (subjective, but IMO)

elte mkt sometimes has good sales on their couches and their nice and contemporary. EQ3 as well. Structube couches are cheap and nice but i'm unsure of the quality.

C&B's email discount is only 15% now. I can vouch for their couches.. we have 2. Pre pandemic, wait times were still a few months unless you buy one ready to ship. We purchased another one during the pandemic and waited nearly 6 months for our couch to arrive.

Bought 2 sectionals from Ashley over the past 2 years,. First one is massive and wasn't cheap but on sale and the one we wanted after sitting on it and like 15-20 others at every store we could find around us. The second was an untested online purchase that was on sale and worked out great.

Don’t know your budget or style you want but bought my Canadian made real leather couches (Lind furniture brand) from Costco and they are really good quality and price was reasonable (especially on sale) included in house delivery (not sure about condos) but this was way before covid

Any bonded leather you buy will eventually wear down and need replacing. (Some people like to change up their style every couple years)
Also inherited some real leather couches from in-laws that are over 30 years old now but are still in good shape!!

Another vote for Urban Barn. They have a made-in-Canada brand that you can customize (shape, section, material, colours). The price was not exorbitant and it's held up really well.

Parks furniture, bought Ashley furnitures from them, much larger discounts for the same item compared to the Ashley store. I also got a fabric decor rest L sectional from Parks that’s held up well over several years of kids jumping on it.

I recommend Cozey.ca! Not expensive and perfect for a condo. Loveseat is about $800+tax, 3 seater is about $1000+tax.
I got a loveseat last year and just bought a 3 piece + ottoman for my basement through their refurbished program for 20% off. It’s a new Canadian company that offers modular couches. They ship very quickly in separate boxes and are easy to assemble/disassemble. Fair warning, the boxes are individually pretty big and may be a bit of an effort for 1 person to bring them up an elevator by yourself (but it’s doable).

The couch is on the firm side (which I love!) and my loveseat hasn’t sagged in a year especially compared to my 3 year old structube sectional which is quite soft/saggy now, I like the colour choices and fabric they offer. I’d recommend you get fabric swatches first to see if you like the fabric texture. What I like is that you can buy individual pieces of the couches so if a cushion gets ruined for whatever reason you can just buy an extra cushion. Or if you buy the love seat now and want to eventually upgrade to a 3 seater you can buy one “seat” individually.

They just launched a higher quality sister company called Nook - nookliving.ca which have definitely higher prices ($2K+) but have higher end options like leather and different fabrics.

If you're looking for leather, I've had good experiences with Rawhide International. They have a showroom in North York and Mississauga I believe. My parents still use the couches they bought from them like 18 years ago and they aren't worn at all.

For those of you who purchased a white/cream sofa - any regrets? How easy to find it in a) keeping it clean b) removing stains?

Better be for $4200 for a fabric sofa. (Alfie)

Had one for about 10 years, held up great, not one stain. I did a triple scotch guard on it when I got it.

My last 2 couch/loveseat purchases have been from costco.ca. One fabric, the newest top grain leather. I have a small space and have a hard time finding furniture to fit, but have been really happy with both of these. My new set was ordered first week of Jan, had it delivered on the 21st, white glove.
That's my 2cents worth

Don’t spend extra money and buy calligaris. Had a bad experience. When it came to warranty they dragged their feet for months and refused to do anything..

Had a Gus modern couch previously with stainless steel base that was well made. Frame was excellent.

As others have said, urban barn has good quality sofas. Try to find Canadian made.
