What all to consider when re-doing home insulation in an older house (1979 built).
Be positive & stay blessed :)

GNI is a solid company, but aren't the cheapest as they have a lot of overhead - they pay guys for leads, they advertise heavily, they have customer service assistants to coordinate quotes, subcontractor margins, etc. They can do literally any insulation you'd like, and they'll generally do a decent job, but you're paying somewhat more than the guys who don't advertise much and are more family-run.

There are also a bunch of firms that mostly do commercial work, and often will misquote you high on residential work unless they're in a slow patch on the bigger jobs.

This is actually an okay time to improve insulation, since residential guys will try to improve insulation when it starts to get really cold or really hot (and it's spring now), so you might get somewhat more competitive pricing from guys who want to keep busy during a sluggish couple of weeks.

Did good job in my place in the attic and a couple rooms. No mess left behind. Lots of good advice and very clear about the quote.

The contractor who did a separate area of the house hired some other guy because he could get him on shorter notice, splatter everywhere, uneven areas all over the ceilings, lots of mess. Even tried to explain that where there was less insulation was made up for by thicker in other areas lol. Tell that to the ice damn. Can't remember the name but it was something like extreme spray foam maybe. Green and black truck. Probably spends more money on lift kits than he pays his employees. Avoid.
