Refrigerator warm spot in freezer...

I have an old-style top-freezer refrigerator. Looking for some help in figuring out why my freezer has one particular spot that cycles through cold and warm to the touch. Items in that area eventually needs to be thrown-out because it goes through the freeze/thaw cycle multiple times. Thanks in advance for your help.

Chances are the cycling you are seeing is NORMAL as many freezers for the past few decades have a defrost cycle where the coils are defrosted so that the ice doesn't build up and cause the freezer to 'freeze' up and stop working. In your case, that defrost element may be running too long or too hot causing the issue you are seeing. See the following for details - http://www.appliance411.ca/faq/howdefrostworks.shtml

Check for proper air movement around the unit - proper space around the appliance. Also vacuum underneath behind the lower front grille and the coils at the back. Could also be a door seal that's failing.
