Registering a Used Vehicle in Ontario

Looking for someone who may have had recent experience with the below...

Scenario:
A Mother is giving a used car to her Daughter.

Assuming all of the paperwork is on hand, does the Mother need to accompany the Daughter to Service Ontario to register the car? Or can the Daughter go by herself?

As long as all of the original, required documents are present and completed, the daughter can go in alone herself.

No tax too. If you keep a vehicle in the family here in Ontario, you don't have to pay the sales tax provided you have to disclose it as a gift.

Better to go together. The form needs to be signed by a commissioner of oaths (fee involved). Most Service Ontario locations have one

If the car is being given as a gift (and would therefore be exempt from the HST), it is much easier if both Mother and Daughter are present to execute the sworn statement. Having said that, with some notaries offering virtual services to execute a sworn statement, it is possible for both Mother and Daughter to complete the paperwork, and get the statement sworn in advanced (witnessed by a notary), in which case the Mother would not need to be present to complete the transfer, as long as she has signed the transfer form (back of the vehicle permit). The licence plate can also be transferred from Mother to Daughter, saving a few bucks.
