Reliable data recovery service in GTA?

A friend of mine has a 2.5" USB drive that's not working properly. I removed it from its enclosure and can confirm it's the drive that's problematic and not the enclosure.

There's important files on this drive, so he'd like to see if a data recovery service can get the files off. Has anyone here tried any such service in the GTA? He's based in Oakville, so anywhere between there and the GTA would be fine.

Is the storage drive encrypted? Is the storage drive an SSD?

I have never used a data recovery service so I can't make any recommendations.

No encryption. Is a standard HDD.

The drive has a ton of problems reading data, clicks periodically and disconnects not long after booting. Pretty standard drive failure scenario.

Yup, it's spinning. It's likely a problem with the board on the drive.

While you're not wrong, I'm not sure I'd give an electronics shop a hard drive.
Without knowing what's actually wrong and depending on how valuable the data is, I'd send it off to a hard drive recovery place.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

Memofix has been my goto for decades. They'll give you a quote and will only charge you if they're able to recover data.
