Don’t rent this stuff, will cost you lot more long term on contract. If you need it, buy it.

Renting both system for 84 months including all repair, filter replacement, etc. After 84 months, you keep both system. Owning water softener & reverse Osmossis plus cost of filters over the 84 month will be more expensive than rental.

Check the terms and conditions carefully, reliance is in the business to make profits, not provide service at a loss.

How much did they quote you to rent for both systems?

LOL.
Don't do it. You've been warned.
Please read the numerous posts in this forum in regards to dealing with Relliance and their rental water heaters and HVAC equipment.

It's been a number of years but I used to manage a sales team for them. They provide service and peace of mind if the equipment needs it. However many things they rent can be had cheaper by simply purchasing them direct. At the time Reliance was getting water purification products from a company called Canature water group in Cambridge. Canature does not sell directly to the public but I'm sure with a bit of work you'd be able to find out who else they sell product to.

Softeners are dead simple to install and as long as you're not going through a rock counter top for the faucet they too are straight forward.
Tired of renting from Reliance? This might be useful reliance-home-comfort-2464779/2/#p34473179

It's probably $50/month. That's $4200 in 7 years. A set of water softener & RO cost costed me $1800 7 years ago and $2400 last year.

A typical 4 stages RO has 1 sediment filter (6 months life expectance), 2 carbon filters (pre 6months & post 12 months), and a membrane filter (24 months, but typical longer).

So you need 14 sediment filters ($10 two pack), 19 carbon filters ($17 each) and 4 membrane filters ($85 each) in 7 years. Total cost would be ~$803 in 7 years. That's ~$3200 to buy vs $4200 in 7 years of lease.

Hi everyone,
So I reside in Barrie, ON and have had 4 companies in Barrie come over my place to do water test and the funny thing is all of them had given me different number for water hardness at my house and diff quote.
Culligan gave me 31 water hardness
Water depot gave me 14
Georgian water gave me 10
AQUAMART gave me 19
Also the price range is from $3000 to $7000 for their water system.
I also contacted Alka waters they are a dealer company and their water system products come from Excalibur water system located at Barrie and without doing the water test they quoted me $3050 for everything included in the water system. Beside going through these companies I noticed that companies such as Lowe', home depot, Rona and Canadian Tire also sell water softener for cheaper price under $1000. A buddy of mine when he lived in Cambridge ON bought a Whirlpool water softener and said it was $700-800 he said he lived in Cambridge for a year and half and that water softener was working great until he bought a house else where and moved. So today I shared all my experience I had so far and is open for suggestions from anyone here on any advice that can help me decide what I should do ... Is it better to buy water softener and Ro from retailers or is it better to go through these water softener companies and dealers ...

This is not necessarily correct. If you are using soft water for your RO system, the life of the filters doubles or triples. 5 years of carbon filters is $43 on amazon, 10 years of sediment filters is $27.50 on amazon. A membrane can be had for $30-$80 depending on the production rate. This will last 3-5 years on soft water.

So doing the math, cost over 7 years is easily under $230 with spare filters left over.
