Rental Agencies - Car sales

Does anyone have contact with any of the Rent-a Car Companies selling their cars? I would like to buy a used car from Avis, Budget, Enterprise, etc.
TIA

May as well look for used police car auctions, they were probably maintained and treated better.. And that isn't saying much.

Hertz sells it directly south of the border. Here, they generally auction them off and you'll find used car dealers selling them.

Doesn't really matter though, cars are in such short supply at car rental companies I can't imagine them wanting to sell when they're having a hard time buying in the first place.

If you're trying to buy now, you chose the absolute worst time to buy a ex-rental car. At least in North America, they're all failing to fulfill their demand due to the paltry supply of new cars. So any previous sales obligations for ex-rentals they will still honour, but any failed sales agreements, the rental companies are more than happy to return a failed sold car back into the rental fleet. This is going to be the summer where your rental now ranges widely from new/fairly new to extremely old. Over 70K km on the rental? Typically they'd want to trade that for a new car, but if there's no new car to trade they're going to keep renting them as long as necessary.

Up here a lot of rentals end back at the dealers to sell or send to auction from what I've seen. Check for ads that say "Former Daily Rental" etc...

I used to see a lot of used car locations selling their old fleet directly (at prices that were still way too high lol), but typically after a year, two tops, selling them off. That was back in the early 00s. However I haven't seen much of that since--perhaps they're all just going to auction these days instead of rental places trying to sell them at retail?
