Replacing garage door opener?

I am moving into a new place with an over height (heavier?) double garage door and an existing GarageDoorDepot GDD 800 unit. It works perfectly fine to the best of my knowledge, but would mainly want to add smart/wifi functionality as well as home link support which I think it doesn’t have.

Is it literally as simple as replacing the power unit or is it more complicated than that? What about the “obstruction” sensors at the bottom sides of door rails?

Anything else to think about? Never before have I ever thought about replacing a garage door opener!

Ah, interesting! Didn’t even know something like that even existed. Though they don’t seem to mention Garage door depot, though they may just be a rebrand?

I guess I’ll look into that option when I can physically play around with the whole system. Certainly cheaper/probably easier!

Just get a smart add on module for under $50.
$29USD for MyQ amazon-com-us-prime-25-98-usd-myq-chamb ... i-2472640/
Or a Refoss kit like this for $40cad amazon-ca-wi-fi-garage-door-opener-41-99-2528204/

Garage Door Depot shows Lift Master GDO units for sale. Lift Master is the 'upscale' version of the Chamberlain units you'll find at big box stores. GDD 800 may indeed be a rebranded Chamberlain, but you'll want to check on that before buying the MyQ smart unit.
The optical door sensors don't need to be changed.
