Replacing Gas Range/Stove...do you need a licensed gas person to install?

So after 16 yrs my builder made GE Profile Gas Range is starting to finally throw some error codes :/

Never replaced or bought a new gas stove before so quick question...did you need a licensed gas tech. to come in to do the install like a exterior bbq line? Or can you DIY it safely and easily (ONT if it matters). Connection is already there so can't be too hard.

Been looking at a few on clearances at Lowes/Home Depot etc. and I'm liking the Bosch 800 series ranges but they are pricey :( Any advice on "when to buy" aside from BF and Boxing Day ?

Thanks.

You could do it yourself and it certainly doesn't look hard. But if it ever goes boom, insurance will ask for the gas tech who did the fitting. And if you don't have a tag, they may deny any payouts.

So I paid a guy to thread in the gas line into the range. It cost around $150.
