resolution about my laptop

Hi to all

If my laptop max resolution is 1366 x 768, if I connect to an external LCD monitor with a higher resolution like 1920 x 1080, will I be getting a higher resolution at 1920 x 1080 on the LCD screen ?

Please kindly advise.

Yes, it will most likely detect and adapt to the highest resolution being 1920x1080 but as you can anticipate it still won't change the resolution on the laptop screen. Note: you'll need to go into the display settings and set it up as a secondary monitor *without* mirroring. If you have mirroring turned on the laptop will mirror to the lowest resolution between both monitors.

If you choose to use the external monitor as your screen it will default to 1920x1080 yes. You could set the resolution of the ext monitor to be lower, but it would probably look bad. If you find things look too small on the external you could always set scaling to 125% but scaling in Windows is hit or miss on quality IMHO.

best to try the different resolutions on the ext. screen, i find i have headaches with certain resolutions and eyestrain with others. Experiment until you find a happy medium
