Retaining Wall and Trees

Would like to build a 30 ft. retaining wall against backyard fence to plant some rear yard trees about 6 to 7 ft. A few questions:

1) What are recommended low maintenance trees that will go back every year? I am thinking of evergreens. Would like very dark green ones if possible.

2) Are retaining walls recommended in areas where the land eventually recedes into a swale? Just wondering if the wall could possibly screw up the water management in the area.

Pictures of your future spot will help.

How high is your retaining wall going to be? Is it gravity, does it have tie backs?

Is the R/W high side on our lot or your neighbors lot?

Yes it does have the potential to negatively impact your neighbourhoods storm drainage, but there are ways around it. Generally water flowing up agaisnt the wall or waterfalling over the wall will lead to issues down the road.

Retaining will be about to 1 to 2 ft. Not very high.

The R/W high side is on my lot. Would installing a weeping tile underneath work?
