There is absolutely no mention of it being $25 only in the physical/digital flyer. The variable ones are excluded however, as mentioned in my OP. How convenient for them that they don't have any $25 GC's to sell AND that's what head office allegedly says the promo is only for AND the fine print also indicates "No rainchecks".

i do the same but i don't believe this addresses the problem others have brought up, if i understand it correctly, that the balances are being swiped before one even purchases the card.

We do the same thing. Its amazing how many folks dont know or associate the discount on the CT gift card to the gas bars. In alberta now with regular gas at about 1.04 you get 10c off per litre plus 4c flat on top with the CT money card. THats .14c/L. THe gasbars would be backed up everyday. I laugh when I see all these Shell and Esso posts talking about 6 or 7c savings............

I confirm that "variable load" CT giftcards ($25-500) are also ringing in at 10% off, despite what the flyer says. At my store, all fixed denomination CT cards where sold out this morning, but they still had variable ones. I told the cashier to load $50 on it, the total rang as $45. I went back and loaded another one with $100, paid $90 for it. Thanks to OP and to users arrgh and zeeshee.
