Been waiting for the 6 pack of 2nd gen contact sensors to go on sale.

Its easier for me to keep adding into my ring system and then using the home assistant integration. No fighting with zigbee or zwave sticks.

Did you look? They don't have every item, like the Ring item does, but the big ones are on the same sale.

Does the stick up Cam elite (packs) ever go on further sale?

The 20% student/medical worker discount codes appear to stack.

In case anyone is wondering, I have the most recent gen doorbell with battery and it was dying once a month. Our front gets southern exposure and the solar panel allowed it to stay between 80-95% all winter. Reviews suck for it but it seemed to take like 2 weeks to start working.

Is the ring doorbell subscription worth it? I got the older generation ring video doorbell for free from work and I installed it and its running great, but my one month of the ring subscription is coming to an end and I'm wondering if it's worth the $5 a month for the subscription.

I subscribed because you lose people only detection without it and my tree, cars, and pretty much anything, kept setting it off. People only mode on the other hand is very accurate and notifications are still quick.

I had the 2020 ring video doorbell (the cheaper one with battery but I did hardwire it) and it was good until winter hit ... if you read the specs on some of the battery powered doorbells, they will only charge if it is above 0C which it pretty much never is during winter!

I just replaced that doorbell with the Ring Doorbell Pro 2 today. It’s working great and I LoVE the new aspect ratio. We’ll see how it does during the winter. No battery and must be hardwired plus theres a device you install in your chime which i believe provides the doorbell with more power but could be wrong.

Wasn't the 14 piece set only $269.99 on Amazon last fall? Or am I having a senior moment?

Yes it was, I remember that cause I tried to buy it and it went OOS while I was thinking lol. I failed the RFD rule of buy first think later.

Just bought the Abode Smart Security Kit earlier this week, but re-considering for the Ring "Gen 2 Alarm + Echo Show + Video Doorbell (2020) ($299.99)" deal.

Im still looking for a video doorbell, although the one included in the Ring bundle looks pretty bulky.

Is the extra money for Abode worth it for the home automation perks?

It works flawlessly in the winter as well! I had to upgrade my transformer in order to get the bell to work though.

If that’s the case it’s a better deal to buy in USD from Ring rather than buying from Amazon or HD... nice

What are peoples experiences with taxes and duties ordering from Ring direct for over $700 as well as warranty support issues sending stuff back for support?

No taxes and duties. As for warranty, if item needs to be replaced, they’ll send you a replacement with return label for your defective item.

I had a spotlight battery cam in my backyard and it stayed dead over one month during the last winter when it went under -20 celcius.
However the doorbell kept working, maybe because it was attached to the door that might be warmer because the opposite side is indoor.
