Robot Vac

I have been looking for a robot vac for ages now and I am really struggling to find the best bang for the buck.

Review after review, roborock seems to be the best of the best....but forget about getting one in Canada.

After that, it seems the iRobot Roomba j7+ 7550 is good, but it hasn't dropped in price in awhile. Its $999 but has been $799. Wish it had LIDAR.

ECOVACS DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI
I have seen mixed reviews. Its currently on sale, but its several years old now and it feels bad to pay $900 for a machine thats priced the same as the roborocks.

anyone have any personal experiences with robo vacs?

I got a friend in the US to ship me a Roborock S4 MAX because I wasn't in need of mopping. He shipped it across via FedEx. With shipping and customs it still came out 40% cheaper than what it's available in Canada.

It's been awesome.

I bought and tried 3, never again

Roomba
- hair gets stuck in the brushes extremely horrible to remove (I hear the Shark ones is made to not tangle hair)
- once battery gets old, it costs a lot to replace
- if battery or computer screws up, you are left with a useless brick
- one went crazy and stopped working , after warranty so just gave up
Pricey

Robots only do the floors. What about all the things above? You still need to vaccum the table tops, tv stands, shelves etc.

So for the money, I'd rather spend $500 on. Dyson that will last year's. No brain or battery to die.

Yes that's what I've done. Bought 2 Dyson canisters refurbished, going on 6 years and still working amazingly

Dyson announced in 2018 that they will only do cordless now so the battery will die (opportunity to sell another battery or a completely new unit).

We had a roomba for a while, the novelty wore off quick, these robot floor cleaners are basically an automatic broom they don’t vacuum, they just whisk the crumbs and other koodies into a dust bin.
After each use you need to dump the dust bin and pick out the hair out of the brushes.
After a while the battery wil get weak and the thing would just stop, or it would get hung up on cords, or floor transitions.
So you still need to use a real vacuum cleaner to clean up after this stupid thing.

Get you your self a good Miele vacuum and call it a day,way less maintenance and cleans your floors 100 times better.

If you are able to get the wyze robot, it is great in terms of performance and in app settings. The only downside is the lack of google integration. It wasn't a bad price after having it shipped cross border.

Yes I heard. I'll still buy the older models with cord. Until it's all gone!!

Yes that is what I do with tools. Corded. This is the way. Lawnmower, saws, drills etc (and people get rid of them on kijiji to replace them for battery versions, great deals can be found). I have a lot of old stuff (my drill is older than I am) and they still work perfectly fine. No way a battery would last that long (and they will discontinue that battery model so you can't even buy a replacement). I see it as a way to lock you in with a brand and force you to eventually upgrade or buy new batteries. I can see the benefits for pros that use tools everyday not to want to deal with a cord but for a DIY I prefer dealing with a cord than a dead battery.
