Called to cancel and was offered some $52 package one level up from Lite Internet.
I was looking for the 35/300 for $45 so I declined and said I will go with the TechSavvt 6/300 for $25
Then I was offered the 35/300 for $50.85 with taxes ($45 + 13%tax) including modem rental.
I asked if I could use my modem and he said it was not compatible.
I have done a few speed tests with the old modem and have gotten various results from 9.9Mbps to nearly 33Mbps.
Looks like the modem is at least good to 33Mbps.
So should I pick up the new modem?
I figure in a year the modem rental will be rescinded from the "offer" and suddenly $15 +tax will show up on my bill every month.

Yes definitely. Technically you are right about your modems abilities, Docsis 2 modems have a maximum throughput of ~40Mbps, but that isn't too significant in practice. Basically, each cable channel has a data capacity of ~40Mbps, but that is a shared resource and everybody on your block (or two, or three) needs access to that capacity. The recommended maximum subscribed speed is 15-20Mbps per channel. So, 8 channel modems are recommended upto ~150Mbps, 4 channel modems upto ~75Mbps, 1 channel modems only ~15Mbps.
Similar to how a lane of traffic on a road has a carrying capacity for a certain number cars per hour. Sure, in the middle of the night when nobody is around you can zip down any road fast. In rush hour, you want a lot of lanes to carry a lot of different traffic.

I called 1-(866) 804-5208 and told them I received a flyer with this deal. He gave it to me without any problems. I am a new activation since I don't have any rogers services before this. Hope it works out for you as well.

Thanks. I called this number before posting and was told that this is for new activations only. For existing accounts they transferred me to Retentions.

I just ordered this plan, and apparently the price should remain the same for 8 years if there are no changes made to the account whatsoever.
30 MB download speed
300 GB traffic
$45 / month
$15 activation fee
$50 installation fee
I was told that the promotion will be coming to an end soon, I'm not sure if this is truly the case or just a push sales technique, but thought I would mention it here. Hope Rogers is to be trusted, and there will indeed no spikes in pricing.

I've been on plan C45 since January. I decided to get a new modem early last week because my DL speeds were consistently less than 10 mbps. When I looked at my invoice this week, they charged me for modem rental. In speaking with Rogers customer service, they said, that since I upgraded my modem, I'm no longer eligible for free modem rental. But that's all he could tell me because the department I have to speak to to complain is closed.

After signing up with Netflix, I saw my self hitting the 200GB cap (I'm on the older W45) ... I want to call in to ask for 50% off Hybrid Fibre 150 (350GB cap, a whopping 150mbps down)... but we'll see.
