[Rogers] New Rogers Win Back deal - Rogers Ignite 60, Unlimited Usage and one month free for $50/month - YMMV

I recently cancelled my Rogers Student Internet I had from last year (Rogers Ignite 30 for $50/month). When I tried to cancel, retentions could only offer me Rogers Ignite 60 with Unlimited usage for $65/month so I continued to cancel and got Virgin Mobile Internet (25Mb/s, unlimited usage for $50).

After about 2 weeks, Rogers called me back today in attempt to win me back as a customer (I guess they got a report of customers that left them) and offered me the following deal

Rogers Ignite 60
Unlimited Usage
1 Month free
Free Rocket Modem
Free Installation

for $50/month

I decided this was a good deal so I caved. When I asked the rep why wasn't I offered this deal prior to cancellation, he confirmed that this a brand new deal that just got activated and they are now able to offer it to customers.

Call 1-866-622-7578 which should get you directly to retentions/customer care to inquire about this deal.

YMMV.

This is essentially the field sales offer from Rogers for brand new customers.

If you want to avoid going the retention route, just cancel and register under a different name through Rogers field sales.

contact a field sales rep to get it done. Would still have to register as a brand new customer

Ignite 60u is $50
Ignite 150u is $60

I got offered this a few weeks ago when trying to cancel. Was told this rate is only good for 1 year, so I didn't bite.

I would aim for the 75 MBPS unlimited for $60 from Fido (Student Plan).

IMO not worth the hassle of dealing with Rogers Retention.

Once you have Fido the price just stays the same and the battle is over, no future negotiations.

So I guess this is not a new deal, just a new customer sale from field sales rep. Still, it's good for 1 year and if I can't renew after 1 year, then I'll just cancel and go with Fido/Virgin internet.

I am a few weeks into this deal. Was door-knocked and told the guy if Bell sends me another Bill that is higher than my agreed amount, I would call him back. (every month, my Bell bill was $20-80 more than it was supposed to be). Got a bill too high, called the rep, and set this up. We've been wanting to 'cut the cord for months', had Bell for TV/Phone/Internet - and wanted to just use Internet with an android box and an HD antenna; so we decided this was the time.

Install was pretty painless, however the tech pulled all the Bell cables out of my walls so now if I want to go back, it'll have to be re-installed again.

In terms of the actual service - speed seems good. I ran a Speedtest.net test and typically get 80 up, 10 download. The negative is connectivity. Ill have adequate service but it my laptop goes to sleep or I close the lid, when I wake it up, it takes up to half a minute before the first webpage I type in, loads. Never would happen with Bell. Sometimes, my browser would not connect at all after several minutes and I'd have to de-activate my wireless connection on my computer and turn it back on before the Internet works.

I also have trouble with multiple streaming devices. If I'm watching my android box on the tv and I try to remote play my Playstation 4 on my Laptop, it is incredibly laggy. This never happened with Bell. This is something I am upset about.
We have the deal for one year, no contract. I have a feeling I'll be cancelling. The price is good but the service is not.

I just went with CarryTel 100mbps for something like $35 a month? It's not 100% perfect, but I've yet to have any network gameplay issues on my XBox (which I had ALL THE TIME with Rogers). I dunno 60mbps for $50 seems like a lot to me.
