Agreed. I have gigabit, not going to keep it. I put a cap on my router at 75/10 for testing purposes, and over a month of 4 adults using it simultaneously no problems/complaints.

That's a good price for 150U. Unless you have several individuals doing consistent streaming on multiple devices at once 150U is more than satisfactory.
I foolishly dumped 150U for Gigabit only to waste hours on tech support, in-home tech visit and diagnostics which concluded I could barely achieve better than 150U speeds.
They now have me on Gigabit for $34.99 for 12 months as compensation after credit but I would prefer the Rocket modem back - the Gigabit modem has a slight lag.

There are two options available to you: from my experience over the last couple of years I've had manual credits entered to offset the difference in price between maintaining home services including Digital VIP vs switching over to the in-market plans with promo pricing. This can be done by management (or above) given your specific circumstances, account issues, payment history, tenure, etc. Another option would be to discuss with management (or above) about applying the old discount code for Digital VIP which I recently discovered (having taken care of a relative's account) are still valid in the system but again as it relates to your specific circumstances. Don't make a "gimme, gimme" argument but rather make a case for why you're seeking a specific price. The former rarely works but you'd be surprised to discover the latter is successful more often than not.stacksonstacks wrote: ↑ I'm wondering when's the last time anyone was able to get a discount and keep VIP? I've tried a few times over the last couple weeks and so far they've all said it's not possible to give a discount without switching to a new cable plan.

Facebook chat. Initially I was offered 89.99 (39.99 off regular) for 500U which I said no to. The next day I asked about 250U and the rep told me they don't offer 250U but I can get 150U for regular price minus 39.99 so 60. Basically they were willing to take off flat 39.99 off all the regular prices. This obviously helps the most when it comes to lower internet speeds.

Price guarantee for 12 months or 24 months? I tried their facebook messeger, but I haven't got any response since yesterday...motime wrote: ↑ Facebook chat. And you likely won't hear back as lines are being bombarded.
The sales folks at Rogers are also having trouble getting through to support staff that book orders for them. Their lines are FRIED!

Just talked to retentions as my 2 year offer is expiring. I received a "targeted offer" for 150u/popular tv for $107 taxes in. Went with it. Good for the year.

Annoying thing is right now Rogers (Small business only / not residential) is offering 100u + vip + phone for $74.99/month on 2 year contract. If they can offer that price to business, be nice if something similar was available to residential. I'd take that even with no need for the phone.

My 2 year promo with VIP TV and 100u internet was about to expire (included free PVR and modem rental) which was going to result in a $90 jump in my bill. I used the Roger's webpage chat to renew with the Popular TV package, 150u, no rental fee on current PVR and modem, at $130/month (taxes included). Seemed like a better deal than what I was previously paying. I hope I didn't miss something obvious. I did confirm no install/service fees for changing the services.

Just got off the phone with Rogers to renew my Internet package. Here's what I was offered:
I pushed to try to get the Ignite 150 for $60 plan mentioned upthread but the rep couldn't do it . They mentioned my account wasn't tagged for this promotion. I also pushed for the promotion to last for 2 years but again was told it's just not possible.
Hold time was ~30 mins, total call duration was ~50 mins.
I eventually accepted. I'll be back in 1 year
Code: Select all
Rogers Ignite 75 package
75 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up
500 GB cap (with $3/GB overage)
Modem rental cost included
Plan locked for 1 year
$59.99 before tax => $67.99 after tax
Hold time was ~30 mins, total call duration was ~50 mins.
I eventually accepted. I'll be back in 1 year

My Ignite 60 + VIP + free PVR offer was about to expire in Feb was paying $132 tax in. Called in to cancel and was offered one year of the following:
Rogers Ignite 75 (75MBPS + 500GB usage)
Premier TV
Free HD PVR
$134 tax in (Ontario)
Is this pretty much the going deal or could I have done better?
Really didn't want to get Popular TV package as it offers less then VIP, need my Golf Channel and NBA TV.
