[Rogers] Rogers Internet 500U for $19.99 YMMV

Surprise surprise. Rogers starts this summer with the blazing hot 12-month internet promotion: $19.99 for 500U. That's 22.59 after tax (including equipment rental), no setup fee.
I was trying to renew the $25 500U deal I got last year, and the Rogers website live chat agent was very upfront and presented the new deal. So it's definitely available for current customers. The service is for my house in Waterloo. Attached Rogers confirmation letter.
Based on RFDers comments I have updated this deal to YMMV.

Thread Summary
Offer received by OP: $19.99 for 500U; renewing $25 for 500U deal

Other offers received:
  • $24.99 for 1GBPS; renewing for $29.99 for 1GBPS deal
  • $24.99 for 500U; renewing for $29.99 for 500U deal
Give it a try: live chat, call in or social media.

Tips:
  • A lot depends on the agent. If you're lucky, you'll get a good promotion, but if you don't, try again the next day
  • Rogers is bent on "offering a promotion." They seem to have a business model where they want you to be on some sort of promotion to keep you as a customer, and they mention it a lot in their live chat.
  • If they say no the first time, ask if they can do something. They should respond saying they'll chat with their support team.
  • As leverage, mention that friends "in the same area" have gotten the $19.99 500U deal. You should be aiming (as your bottom line) for the $24.99 deal.
  • You can also mention that a Bell representative came to your neighbourhood and said that there would be equally enticing promotions near B2S

500U internet uses a more powerful modern. Rogers will ship you a new modern which you replace the Fido one. Afterwards, you can either ship the Fido modern or bring it to the Fido store.
