Called in again the next day, got sent to cancellations and I got:
Ignite Gigabit
6 months free
$58.99 (something like that - $67.79 after tax) after the 6 months

Thoughts?
Good deal, as the common Gigabit deal from retention is $34.99 (before taxes).

I'm trying to negotiate to get one of these plans for my condo in north york, Bell currently offers only up to 100mbps to my building, so rogers won't budge on pricing. I guess this rogers offer is only available in areas where bell has direct fibre to the home.

I suppose I will just have to keep waiting until eventually it comes into my building...

Generally yes. My home has max 100Mbps FTTN from Bell as well but since I was a customer who left in 2017, their retention called and offered me 500Mbps for 24.99 or 1Gbps for 34.99 with 3 months free for a detached house in Durham region.

I've had bell gigabit fibre to the home for a long time in my neighbourhood but Rogers keep refusing to budge so I don't think that's it.

So, my 2 year promo pricing on Gigabit ends in December, meaning that the price will jump to $150+

Figured I start the haggling early.... this is what I was offered over chat with regular customer service (didn't get transferred to retentions):

1) Gigabit for $93.78 incl. tax for 24 months ($70/month discount).... this is exactly the same price/promo I currently have from 2 years ago
2) Ignite 500 for $88.13 incl. tax for 24 months ($50/month discount)
3) Ignite 150 for $84.74 incl. tax for 12 months ($33/month discount) AND includes a Netflix Premium subscription for 6 months

I guess keeping my current pricing is OK.... as this was an amazing price 2 years ago.

But others appear to be getting MUCH better offers with the winback calls. I'm seeing 12 month offers at $39.54 incl. tax for Gigabit and $28.24 incl. tax for Ignite 500!! So what gives?!?!

I really don't see why I'd lock in for 24 months at $93.78 while others are getting the same service for 12 months at $39.54... more than HALF of what I'm being offered.

Do I......
A) Risk it, and cancel my Rogers Internet and hope for a winback call (perhaps sign up with carrytel for the interim)?; or
B) Wait until closer to my promo expiry date in December and call back in November to see if they have any better offers at the time?

Called Rogers cancellations: 1-855-201-9547

Set cancellation date for end of billing period.

First offer: $67.79 all-in* (tax and modem rental) for Gigabit. Said to cancel

Escalated to 2nd tier (Angela): 6 months free, then $67.79 all-in* for Gigabit valid for 1 year. After 5 months, a senior rep will follow up with another retention offer.

I took them up on the 2nd offer.

*I'm in Ontario so $59.99 pre-tax, but including modem rental.

That's not bad... better than what I was offered over chat, but not as good as the winback offer.

were you currently on a promo for gigabit? If so, how close were you close to the expiry date of your promo pricing?

Which makes his Gigabit retention plan better, with 6 months free, at $67.79 all-in.
$67.79 X 6 = $406.74
$39.54 X 12 = $474.48

So, I attempted to get this deal, however retention only offered me a lousy deal. Set up a cancellation date, got an email to contact Rogers to win back my business, called Rogers only to recieve another lousy deal, received a WinBack/Rogers Ambassador call stating that notes indicate you wanted a $25 500MB deal, can offer for $29, declined and opted for 1 gig instead for a few dollars extra ($33). Just cancel, and be patient if they don't offer the deal.
