Winnipegger here.... never got it. LOL. I never do. I have to pull teeth to get anything from Rogers. 25 plus years, they know I'm not going anywhere. LOL

EDIT: I signed in online and saw this. Flippin Robbers. They make me laugh. According to their offer, if I pay only $25 more a month, they'll give me 5GB of data more! WOW. Nice offer Rogers..... NOT!! LOL

Called rogers they weren't even aware that corporate sent this offer i guess it was all a mistake and the cover up was to sell other plans but now that they have realized the issue, they are offering the date upgrade but for 2 years only give them a call and get your promo applied got 15gb for 45

You might see it like that, but nowhere close to reality.

If you take the $80.50 without discount it’s $75 (plan) + $40 (subsidy) = $115. Since it’s discounted at 30% right off the bat, I pay only $80.50. This also means the plan is actually $52.50 and the device subsidy is $28.

Over 24 months I pay $1260 for the plan and $672 for the device. I already paid $540 upfront at time of purchase. This means the $1500 device is actually $1212.

I paid almost $300 less for the iPhone and only $1260 for the plan.

Edit: of course if they no longer allow upgrades on that plan I’ll get a voice-only plan and let her keep the data sim and buy iPhone direct from apple.

Edit 2: I added a pic of calculations. It’s not a direct comparison but I chose lowest Telus plan of 20 gb which is 7x more data than my wife needs. I end up paying almost $500 more if I switch. In both situations I chose a $1500 iPhone with an up-front portion and $40/month device charge to lower monthly cost. It’s as close as I can get.

Are you keeping your 11 Pro max at the end of the 24 month term or you have to give it back?
And what do you mean you paid $540 up front?

Currently on $50/15GB plan.

App shows no offer. Login to the website and I have an offer to 'upgrade' to a $70/20GB plan. Great deal. Thinking Face

Yes I’m keeping the phone after the 24 month term is over. Don’t have to give it back.

The $540 upfront is $1500 phone cost - $960 ($40 x 24 months) = $540. Technically it could be any amount. Just subtract $960 from the phone cost and you have your upfront cost.

Rogers offers the $0 financing on Infinite plans. For older plans this was not an option so they subtracted the $960 and you pay the rest upfront.

Telus offers a “lower monthly” option if you want, so you pay upfront an amount which is the cost of the phone minus the monthly subsidy x 24 months.

Winback plan from January 2020.

I switched from Rogers 2-3 years ago ($60/10GB deal few xmas ago).

Rogers called me to offer the deal to switch back.

Currently on $60 15GB BYOD plan. I don’t see any bonus data added but got an exclusive offer of $65 20GB plan (Infinite +20 Financing). Looking for iPhone 12 pro max but don’t know if financing is worth it.

No dice for me either. Logged into Rogers app and nothing. Didn't get the text either. Currently on a loyalty plan and manage to wrangle $50/14 GB two months ago when Fido had their bonus data promo. I'm happy for the time being, but I'll take the bonus data if it's offered to me. I can always use more data -- not that I use up all the ones I have at the moment since I'm working from home. We're all becoming a bit of data hoarder. lol

I think Rogers is offering some free data lately to create some goodwill and perhaps a preemptive strike to stop customers from leaving. Furthermore, when you are used to having a bonus that adds up to 15 GB/month from 4 GB/month, once the promo ends, you'll be in a painful withdrawal and will want to stay on the bigger data plan -- to which you will need to pony up for -- or go infinite, which again -- more $$ in Roger's pockets. They aren't stupid and are playing the long game. When the incumbents are able to hold on to their customer base, it's extremely difficult for an "upstart" like Shaw to grow their market share. Cell phone plans are pretty much like banking in Canada these days. The players can only grow their market share by poaching customers from each other. You can say that the Big 3 are basically trying to guard their turf from Shaw moving in on them.
Why settle for full retail price when you can wait and get it at a lower price for better value (even better if there's a bundled freebies deal)? 😉
