But requires return of device after 24 months... So it's a rental basically.

Discount looks good but overall with data plan - not worth it.

Wtf, Canadian carriers are going to charge extra for 5G usage? I really hope the government comes down hard on them.

it will take at least 10 years IF it ever happens.
Remember the good old days of 3 year contracts with locked phones?

I don't see anything about return of device (Upfront Edge as they call it) on the the rogers site

with how slow the government is it’ll be 5 plus years before it’s even looked at. these providers know what they are doing.

If you pop open "see full details" then scroll to the bottom there is a section on upfront edge. Not entirely clear to me if it specifically applies to this deal, but seems likely. Not sure if they can simultaneously say that they are giving a bill credit under upfront edge... Seems sketchy.

This is a good deal for financing a phone with such specs if you combine it with an EPP plan. However, the sketchiest and scariest thing is "5G access is included with Rogers Infinite plans at no extra charge until March 2021." It's as if they say "After March 2021 we will charge you extra for 5G access, and 4G will not be available  "

Confirmed with Rogers csr, it's not an upfront edge, i.e. you keep the phone after 2 years.

I bought the phone + winback offer. So 15gb plan for $50 + phone for $20 a month + $300 credit.
Cant complain with the price at this point. essentially paying 7.50 per month for the phone and a good plan.
Glad I help my horses before jumping the ship again.

It says under the Upfront Edge footnote that “you must return the device at month 24”

Good to know - make sure they get that in writing on your account notes because their info on the website is confusing and contradictory.

I have had the experience in the past with Rogers where 3 different customer reps give you 3 different answers - as long as something is in writing, they will honour that word
